I remember searching through VJ once and they gave a link somewhere on the USCIS website that you can track the status of your petition for alien fiance. Can you guys give me the link so I can bookmark it? Just want to check on the status every now and then.

Once you get your NOA1 usually you can enter your case number into the USCIS system and check for updates. Otherwise there is a chart that shows you which cases they are currently working on by date. Good luck,

In their FAQs which I just read, they stated registration is not mandatory. Plus, I put in our receipt number and it gave us a status.

You should register anyway. If you just put your case number in everytime you check, you can be blocked if you do it too often in a short period of time. This happened to me, I went through an obsessive, check-all-the-time phase! If you register and create an account, all you have to do it type in your user ID and password, and you can check all the time, without risk of being blocked for too frequent checks. Plus, they will send you email notification if anything changes with your petition.

good luck to you. btw, since youre registered already might as well sign up for email notifications. im not quite sure how efficient it is but it automatically shoots an email whenever your status is touched by the uscis. hopefully the next time you get touched it will be good news.
