Grrrrrr... nothing makes me more angry than stupid people dealing with children. She should be horse whipped. And I don't believe violence begets violence. However, abusing children changes the rules.

I just don't get why the smokescreen of happy #### when they do stuff like this. Kicking around kids, or concealing some girl's wonderful voice because she has crooked teeth, aren't going to make your country look any better as eventually word gets out. This is just one of many issues I can't help but shake my head at, one that perpetuates certain cultures do live by an inferiority complex on the international scale.

Cultural differences. My fiancee is a Chinese teacher. She's the nicest person, she wouldn't harm a fly. Actually she'd scream and run away from a fly. Her normal teaching style is to offer children rewards (such as candy) when they behave and do well. Well... at the (private) school she's working for now, that doesn't work. Raising her voice doesn't work, scolding doesn't work. She has to smack them. THE STUDENTS' PARENTS WANT THE TEACHERS TO SMACK THEM. They tell her to. She doesn't like doing it, but it's the only thing that keeps them in line, and it makes the parents happy.

It says nothing about a particularly culture, and EVERYTHING about that particular person. Still, let's all bang our respective gongs.

So you're saying, instead of appeasing the parents, and keeping control of her class, she should be the better person, and let her class run amok, have her students' parents angry with her, and lose her job (without pay)?

Does she plan on being a teacher here in the US at some point? She would not be allowed to teach if they heard that's how she gains control of her class, and if she did that here, she'd be charged criminally.

That's totally unacceptable.

total agreement

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

We don't know yet if she will teach here. That is NOT her normal teaching style, and she does it only because the students' parents want her to. I told her it is illegal here.

And no, she doesn't like teaching there, and will be looking for another job soon.
