No antique money in the walls here....I just don't want anyone in my home whom I can't trust to keep their hands off things that don't belong to them without my constant supervision... I really don't see how people can think that "finders, keepers" applies when you are in someone else's home

In that case I do believe they tracked down the original owner (or the heirs) and did the right thing and returned the money.

That is the interesting bit... they were friends before all of this. I can't help but think that it should make a difference. If I were in a friend's house and somehow found $182,000, I can't imagine NOT telling them.

It does... but think from the flip side... if a friend of yours found $182,000 in your house didn't tell you and just took it all, and you found out about it later, how would you feel? Would you honestly be all happy for them and let it go?
