Ever since I arrived to this country a candidate that I like has won.

Amen and now work along side McCain, I've come to like the old timer, and send Palin's A$$ back to AK!

Now she can continue to hunt moose and deer.

Nobody is saying that VW or anyone else should suppress their views, I am just saying take what she says with a grain of salt because historically she hasn't been the most open minded poster (to say the least).

incorrect on that in bold. i've seen quite a few posts telling vw to shut up.

i'm also unaware of any requirement that posting on vj can only be done by the open minded.

Well I haven't seen much of what VW has posted after Obama's victory so I can't comment on it. As you know I disagree with VW and the far right pretty consistently here, but I denounce anyone that tells them to shut up. On the flip side if someone posts a bunch of nonsense just to cause trouble that needs to be addressed.

I have never seen anyone to actually tell VW to shut up. I have heard her say ad naseum that she will "not be silenced" as if somehow people are trying to. However, I think that's a percieved action based on the fact that not many people agree with her particular point of view, and somehow critisizing it is viewed as an attempt to 'silence' her. Add to the mix a peculiar 'puppy dog' devotion by Charles, et voila!

Ok so one person told VW to shut up... again I denounce that. However as I have stated many times before the main reason why fights erupt here is not due to a respectful exchange of ideas... it's because someone either intentionally stirs up trouble to get a reaction or posts something so controversial or offensive that it is bound to cause a fight.

Again as I have stated before if you look at the history of forum posts the vast majority of controversial threads have been started by the right. Now I'm sure you can find exceptions to this assertion, but I am talking about a pattern. You obviously think very highly of VW and that's fine, but she has been guilty of starting such threads on many occasions. VW (and others with right wing opinions) believes that the negative backlash is due to a rejection of their views but I totally disagree with that. It's the stereotypes, rhetoric, half truths & lies that start fights, not the actual viewpoint. Example: Instead of calling Obama a socialist, liberal, unpatriotic, etc. discuss how you disagree with his policies. Moreover instead of labeling everyone who supports Obama as a liberal, unpatriotic, sheep, etc. try to at least respect the fact that others have a different view & its every bit as valid as yours.

How can that possibly be anyway? Half of all threads on VJ off topic are started by one particular user- except when he's been temporarily banned- who is definitely a Democrat.
