Laugh all you want. The last laugh will be mine.

And the last laugh will be ours when you fill out your tax returns next year! Bwahahahahaha!

It is time for the working man and women, if you are in the top 5% than your time is done, your greed and excess is a memory, we have taken it up the back end side for many years, watching the very few wealthy make billions off our back, hope they had a good ride, cause baby we have it now.

yeah, watch them leave the country with their money.

Sore loser!

don't look at me, i don't have enough money to leave with :P

and you just confirmed what vw has been saying all along about higher taxes btw.

Only for the higher earners, Charles, and that hasn't been something that Obama has hidden away. Incidentally, I know jack squat about politics, so I don't think I confirm anything that VW says. ;)

given what vw says, she's probably in that soon to be taxed higher bracket.

And therein lies her main problem with President-Elect Obama.

It was a long, hard fought battle that is finally over! No matter who won there would have been 2 absolute certainties:

1. Nearly half of America would be disappointed with the outcome.

2. The winner would do a better job that President Bush.

As I see it Obama won (and McCain lost) for the following reasons:

1. The economy is in the toilet. Traditionally when the economy is in the crapper the incumbent party loses the election (be it democrat or republican).

2. Obama had the money & organization for his campaign. He basically outspent & out-maneuvered McCain.

3. The selection of Palin as VP. Although her selection was an initial boost to McCain's numbers, it turned out to be a bad choice in the long run. People compare her inexperience with Obama's and that is fair game, but the difference is Obama has an understanding of the issues & she doesn't.

4. McCain's decision to run a negative campaign backfired. Most of America is tired of the Karl Rove dirty sleaze tactics & it was a strategic error by the McCain campaign to employ them.

You rejoice now, but I will have the last laugh.

My moment hasn't come yet

But, then, there is the payback and that's a b!tch.

Laugh all you want. The last laugh will be mine.

I am at peace with the results. I am not bitter as I said I wouldn't be. I am glad the country has it's first black President. He's not going to solve all of our problems. But if anyone wants to belittle me for not voting for Obama, they can just shut up (just in general, not pointing to a specific post in this thread b/c I haven't bother reading all of it). At least no one started a "woke up depressed" thread like people did in 2004 and acted extremely bitter. I will not do that. I would just like some respect for myself as well and not to be called a "tard" this or that b/c my candidate didn't win.

McCain was absolutely gracious in defeat and pledged to support the new president because that is in the best intersts of America. While I am sure he will only support that which he deems to be right (which is just as it should be) his voice should ensure that most McCain supporters will be positive in defeat. That is a good thing, and hopefully will set the tone for how things will move forward from now. No one should slandered for their choice of candidate. However, if people continue to slander those that did vote for Obama, then I think there will be a certain amount of bickering towards those people.

And I intend to continue my freedom of speech. I look forward to 4 years of "I told you so" before he ends his first and only term.

You look forward to 4 years of failure then. WOW... that is seriously messed up.

it will be fun to do the bashing rather than the defending of the president for a change.

I'm really surprised Charles, as someone who has served his country that you would also be on the side of hoping for failure.

I thought McCain's concession speech was very good for moving forward, and I support everyone working together. I don't support the bitterness by those who lost, and think it only hinders things. After seeing bitterness from the other side for so many years, it became very unappealing to me and behavior I would not want to mirror. So if I expect others to act gracious, then I have to act gracious too.

I'm glad people saw reason and voted for something a bit different. Obama may well prove to be disappointing in some respects (and sure - we have no basis on which to pre-judge his performance), but on the basis of what was on offer it seems he was the better man.

McCain had an uphill battle coming off of the back of the Bush administration (and really this result is a testament to how deeply unpopular GWB), his failure to really distance himself from the current administration or its President, flip-flopping over the economy and the cynical selection of an intellectually sub-par Harriet Myers figure for the Vice Presidency.

I was listening to NPR this morning and they were saying that the GOP is at a bit of a cross-roads and in the future will need to find a way to engage minorities in a way that they haven't previously done. The whole Joe the Plumber spiel was pretty pathetic, and certainly at the end of the race it seemed McCain was spending more time trying to appeal to the traditional white conservative base of the GOP than the swing voters he really needed to win.

I'd like to think history has been made and that the old prejudices and biases (certainly that whole hysterical spiel about "Socialism") will play less of a role in future elections.

McCain gave a great classy speech. THAT is the McCain I remember from a few years ago.

He'd have done a lot better had he been allowed to be himself. I really do think campaigning changed him. It would change anyone. Heck, Obama looks like he's aged 10 years.

It always seems to happen with concession speeches! People seem more human and humble, and more likeable all of the sudden. I was proud of McCain at that moment. I couldn't help feeling a little sad for him too since this was his last chance, age wise.

He'll look worse once he leaves office - all that stress and pressure does a number on the body. Even Golf Course George isn't immune.
