Affidavit of Support from friends

Good day, everyone!

I am in the 90 days timeline for the lifting of conditions.

To my understanding, a sworn affidavit must be notarized. And my husband said it is not important. We informed our friends that we need letters of support from them.

Should the letters/ statements/affidavits be notarized? Please enligthen me on this.

We didnt send in any affidavits, we felt our evidence was strong enough.

I sent two affidavits from my mom and sister when we filed for our CR1 visa and they were not notarized. Never had any issues with it.

The affidavits from friends are only necessary if you have very little other evidence to prove you have a bona fide relationship.

We did not send any and had no problems.

my attorney suggested that i had all of my affidavits notarized when i was submitting my package, it doest hurt and doesnt cost anything, so id just do it.

I recall seeing an affidavit "format" somewhere in the forum (I can't find it now) and it says to be "notarized". Also I received an RFE and on their list of example for evidence, in the part that it mentions the affidavits it says "notarized", it also says to include that persons date and place of birth, address and also to state if the person is US citizen or resident, and to provide additional documents to support the affidavit, basically a copy of their ID and/or passport if they're citizen or GC if they're resident (I know, too much, but that's what my RFE said).

I've also read in the forum that the affidavits are not required and they're right. But I think that if they mention it in their examples for "evidence", then it's good to send them, it doesn't hurt.

I submitted an affidavit from my mother-in-law and cousin of my then husband. My case is different so I'm sure it does not apply to you. But submitting an affidavit is not necesarry if you have enough evidence to back-up your case.

I sent in letters of support from 4 friends and they all had their letters notarized.
