Funny how I actually thought about this site in the middle of my interview

Well one thing I can tell you for sure. The anticipation is so much worse than the actual interview.

It's raining cats and dogs here. We went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and then took a cab to the building, about a 20 minute ride. Got there and went through security in seconds, not a single hitch not a rude person in sight. Got in the elevator to the 13th floor and met the guard. He checked our IDs and letter and sent us to Window 1. First and only grumpy person of the day took the letter and told us to sit (had to ask her to repeat cuz she forgot she was behind glass or something  ) The room was kinda packed but still a few empty seats. It kinda feels like a train station.

So we sat and waited for I think half an hour. One thing about my wife and I is we kid around like children so it really passed time quickly. Our names got called in and so it starts. We go through the door and meet our interviewer. A short guy with an Eastern European accent. Really nice guy, I read about him on one of the reviews before so that was a good sign. He went through our packet before we got there so it was only a matter of verifying our info like our address, where I work, when we met, how we met, do we intend on expanding our family (no, we're students and can't afford that right now lol.. he laughed). But the way he asked them was like a friend not an interrogator. So don't be afraid, it's simple a conversation. All he asked for was anything new to add to my file and I gave him my life insurance with my wife as beneficiary. He asked if anyone else was listed as a beneficiary, I said no.

And that was it, he said the application was approved and gave me a paper about filing for the removal of conditions. He explained it pretty clearly too. I must say this guy is ace at his job and at the USCIS that really needs to be commended. I can't remember his name though. He put a stamp in my passport and wrote some stuff on it. It's valid for 1 year.

Unfortunately, I left my umbrella at his desk  . I figured they wouldn't let me back in the room to get it so we just left it.

That's it, took like 5-8 minutes, most of it with us sitting in silence while he put holes in papers and put them together.

One Note: The whole no phone thing doesn't exist. It's fine to take it to this building, they just ask that you put it on silent.

It really does! I intend to stick around and help anyway I can. It's especially good when the I-130s don't have a hard time! Expect your letter soon. The EAD usually means the name check is done and the criminal check on the bio takes 2 days.

Thanks guys. The anticipation is really the worst thing. When you get there it's not like someone is trying to GET you. At least none of the IOs I saw looked like that. I overheard another interview and they were all laughing. They all took place in cubicles.

Congrats! Glad you had a friendly AO and I agree the anticipation is often worse than that actual thing!

I guess the phone thing varies with local office - in Jax they were very strict (but friendly) and made us take the cell phones and my purse back to the car - only things allowed in were documents and wallets.

Congratulation! Since I read about a couple of Seattle interviews, I became very afraid. It seems as though IO are looking for any reason to deport spouse (which makes no sense). My wife was married to a foreign national before so that is going to be a big red flag for IO (so I heard). One positive thing that came out of this fear thing is that we go out more than once a week and take pictures and we enjoy doing that. But we don't like the part about fighting and blaming others for why we don't have this documentation and that.

Seattle Interviewers aren't bad. They just don't give you a definite approval on the spot, so you feel back in limbo land after the interview.

Don't fight with your spouse! It is not worth it. Just keep accumulating proofs and everything will be fine. :)

Heliospan, Yeah!!!! I am excited for you. I am glad it went well! :)

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.
