If you have a positive skin test, they will then send you for a chest x-ray. The skin test can produce false positives.

If the x-ray shows scarring, they ususally use a sputum test to determine if you have an active infection.

I'm pretty sure that if you do have an active infection, you can be treated and once you have completed treatment, you can become eligable for the visa. Can someone confirm this last statement?

It's very seldom for those people who lives in western hemisphere to get a positive result for their tb skin test. However, this is more occuring to those people who were living in asia. I was born in the philippines, migrated to Canada and became canadian citizen..now i'm here with my wife in USA processing my AOS papers. Anyways, when they did my TB skin test, it came out positive..I had my chest x-ray and the findings were negative. Unfortunately, they required me to go to the TB health clinic to re-examine my chest x-ray and they issued me a clearance certificate.

I believed that if you were infeccted with such disease, they will give you a medicine for a certain period of time and check it later if there's a progress with the treatment. Don't worry, if you are healthy person, there's nothing to worry about.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Our clinic finally adopted a British developed blood test that is far more accurate than the skin test, both my wife and daughter received a life time immunization for TB that our doctors here never heard of. Our AMA was kind of arrogant as that blood test was not developed here. Both my wife and daughter had to get chest x-rays for the I-693, both were negative.

Can't get two health officials to agree on the results of a skin test, can also be an allergic reaction, but normally less than the size of a dime, even printed that out and brought a dime along that covered that itchy mark, ever try to use logic with a wall? Since my wife was working for a hospital, required her to take that medication, was free, state supplied, don't recall the name of it, but was loaded with nasty side effects to please that big fat nasty old witch that was in charge of the health department plus yearly x-rays. I insisted they test me for TB as well, but wouldn't, I even confessed to kissing my wife once. Anyway, with this new blood test, it came back negative, all health workers are required for this yearly checkup plus a bunch of other stuff, so they just drain some blood from my wife each year, and no more skin tests. She is no longer required for the yearly x-rays.

Was able to save a couple of bucks by using our county health department in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin Medical department where they charge 5-25 bucks per test rather than 200-500 bucks per test. We also got all of their immunizations translated with the originals for verification, that also saved a couple of bucks. That was the most difficult form to fill out way back then and calling a number of USCIS approved doctors, got quotes from anywhere from 300 bucks per person up to over 3,000 bucks per person to complete the I-693. I filled out the top of the form myself using Adobe Acrobat so all that information was correct and readable, did you ever meet a doctor that knew how to write. The doctor I did select never said his job was so easy, but didn't give me a break on his quoted price, was just glad to get the I-693's, was the last form on our list. Comes in a sealed envelop that you are not suppose to open, but kind of saw the originals with my long distant eyes. Both passed, but even if they didn't after I studied the form, could have every major disease the form calls for, but just have to agree to consoling. That is when my head started spinning with the USCIS, we are all done now, but my head hasn't stopped spinning yet.

In order to apply for adjustment of status this requires that the alien has already entered the US. A positive TB test is NOT grounds for deportation. You will simply be put on the treatment program if it is determined the TB is active.

Hello Kababayan!!! When I did my full medical check up here in Arizona, I was positive with my TB Skin Test but my chest x-ray was normal. As I said, the nurse who administered the vaccines told me to make an appointment to PIMA Health Department for Clearance. When I went to our Pima Clinic department everything was OK. THe nurse asked me if I want to take the TB medication and this will takes up to 9 months. I had a thought about it though..IF I'm taking the medicine 4 9 months that will be too long... what if you can't keep it up? Complications will rise about your health issues.., your health will be jeoperdized. SO I decided not to take it even one tablet....

really? they asked you if you want to take the medication? because for my case, my %^&*@#$ doctor didn't give me a choice..I was so upset but I have to comply or else she'd report me to Dept of Health and I'll be in trouble..so I had no choice but to do it..I know it has many complications, now I'm worried about my liver and add to that, i am suffering from ugly acne on my face until now which I never had in my entire life...can you believe that ??!!

And now I'm going insane finding cure for these acne..I've tried everything from likas papaya to pro active but it didn't work..so now I am doing a cleansing diet to get rid of those bad bacteria inside me which killed the good bacteria from the antibiotic I took for 9 long painful months. Confusing but I dont know how to explain it medically correct..LOL.. i hope it'll work.

Well, good luck to you...nice to have a kababayan in here..
