As usual I always second guess myself and wonder if I did something right, cause usually everything I do is wrong. I sent out my I-130 a couple of weeks ago (I know it is still early). Today I went to the bank and found out my check hasn't been cashed yet. Been second guessing myself ever since I mailed it. I sent it to;

USCIS Lockbox

ATTN: SAI-130

131 South Dearborn - 3rd. Floor

Chicago, IL 60603-5517

Thats what I got off the USCIS site. It shows it was delivered and signed by a L BOX. To me that seemed strange because every time I've seen someone post here that an actual person signed for it. Also the scanned copy I recieved from the USPS is unreadable, like it wasn't even signed for. Thinking back I didn't include a cover letter and am now wondering how they would know it's for my wife and not someone requiring a several year waiting process. Just thinking that it may have gone into the bin for a 5 year wait.

Probably some stupid questions and I should probably wait another couple of weeks before I begin to worry, however, I'm the type who likes to know for sure. Once I recieve word that the check is cashed and get my NOA1 I undersand that it's a long waiting process, but at least I feel I'll know that it is in the right place.

Thanks

Thanks, just as I suspected. I guess the thing to do would be write another check and send a whole new patition to the PO box at 804616, since I am in MD. I am really a moron by adding several weeks to what will already be a long process. I just didn't see how you could get a conformation signature from a PO box. Of course I didn't get one anyways.

How I now understand it, if I send it by USPS to an address that is intended for other couriers my package will not go to the right place. Oh well!

Thanks again for the reply. Just goes to show I can double, triple, quadruple 10 fold check everything and still get the most important part wrong. AAARRRGGGHHH. just cost us at least a month by the time I get new passport photos (30 days are done) of my wife.

You are way over thinking. It is called when the USCIS yahoo comes to the PO Box to pick up the mail, the USPS asks them to sign for the delivered materials. It happens everyday....

It sounds so simple put that way. Now I'm just going into a corner now and feeling totally stupid. I really am just a moron. LOL Cry LOL cry.

Of course I see on the USCIS site that they are processing NOA1's up till the end of July. I swear I've seen them on peoples timelines for later this year. Still don't know what to do (slight panic here). Maybe try to track down a phone number to see what USCIS says. (return to corner)

Just for info so someone doesn't make the same mistake I did. Send it to the EXACT correct address. Just got off the phone with 2 different people at USCIS. First time lost signal with one more question to ask so I had to call back. They confirmed that I did indeed send it to the wrong address, however, they said that it SHOULD either be mailed back to me or forewarded to the right location. Of course no idea on time. One said soon, the other said not to worry until 1 month. Of course the USCIS site shows July now at the lockbox, which of course would mean 3 month's maybe untill I get it returned to me. Maybe adding three month's to the whole process. (my wife's gonna kill me). Once again I truly am an idiot!!!

My one question was weather or not to send in a whole other petition with new check and start over. They both said that I would lose the original 355 and it would cost me the other check, No problem. ( Boat I work on in C.R. is not going back to C.R. so with the next 5 month's steady income being lost, What's another 355?---AAARRRGGGHHH) Understandable, I'll take the loss. However, she stated that I would have to cancel the previous petition if I sent in another----and it could be a problem if my new one was on the way and my old one was being returned to me. Oh-well. She recomended to just wait untill either my NOA1 or my petition gets returned to me to play it safe. Of course I'm now officially in the zone of not knowing anything until something comes to me in the mail. Which, how I see it, could be anywhere from tomorrow to 3 month's from now. Live and learn! Unfortunatly this is a one time shot in my life and I couldn't really give a care of learning this for the future. Maybe someone else though will learn from my mistakes. (SEND TO RIGHT ADDRESS)

On a similar note. I must have the I-130 NOA1 to send in the I-129F for the K-3------Right? Because, honestly, the K-3 is a better VISA for our situation anyways. I understand that this I-130 mess I got into will have to be cleareed before sending an I-129! Right?

Since you need proof of filing the I-130 for the I-129F, you are currently SOL until you get that resolved and can provide the proper evidence

Now one thing I did not state, so maybe I did file correctly. Or maybe I'm not as much of an idiot because of the way it was worded.

True, I did use the USPS. However, I used their EXPRESS mail service so I could get next day guarenteed delivery with a signature. So since it was EXPRESS wouldn't the correct address be the one used for courier/express delivery, which I used.

When I called USCIS I stated I used the USPS so they said I mailed it to the wrong location. I did not state that I sent it EXPRESS. Guess I'll call them tomorrow!

figgures!!! I remember going back and forth with that issue. But in the end I went to that address becaause it CLEARLY showed on the USCIS website courier/EXPRESS. So of course I went with the express address. Must be their way of weeding out the trully incompatant filers such as myself. But it was clearly stated EXPRESS DELIVERIES TO THIS ADDRESS. So I sent it to what I thought was the right location...And now my wife has to suffer for my incompatance. I wish they would get their damn directions right on the USCIS site. Where I'm from EXPRESS is EXPRESS. NO DIFFERENT. Slightly pissed----at myself and whoever wrote the guidelins on the USCIS site.

Hi Guys. Today is Monday June 21, 2010. Looks like this topic is really confusing with different opinions. I sent my AOS & I-130 package on Friday (June 18,2010) to Expressmail/courier address using the USPS EXPRESS MAIL service. I hope my case would really confirm the ambiguity of this "Express Mail" issue. USCIS clearly mentions in their site to use the following addresses for AOS & I-130 package filing concurrently.

USCIS Chicago Lockbox

U.S. Postal Service (USPS):

USCIS

P.O. Box 805887

Chicago, IL 60680-4120

Express Mail and courier deliveries:

USCIS

ATTN: FBAS

131 S. Dearborn,-3rd Floor

Chicago, IL 60603-5517

It is clearly mentioned to use the second address if "Express Mail" is used. As far as my knowledge goes, Express mail is a registered trademark of USPS. So I thought Express mail IS THE USPS Express mail which pretty much works like any other courier service out there. Having said that, I have to wait and see how this whole thing turns out. I will base my comments with the evidence I have. So, here it goes:

- On Friday- June 18th 2010-- I Mailed AOS& I-130 package from Texas via EXPRESS MAIL from USPS to the USCIS address that is mentioned in their website for Express mail and Courier deliveries i.e. USCIS ATTN: FBAS 131 S. Dearborn,-3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517. Guaranteed delivery Monday 21st June

- On Monday the USPS tracking system says package delivered on June 21 9:12 am at USCIS Express and the item was signed for by L BOX. Here is the DETAILED USPS confirmation

Label/Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Guaranteed Delivery Date/Time: June 21, 2010, 3:00 PM

Class: Express Mail®

Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 9:12 AM on June 21, 2010 in CHICAGO, IL 60603 to USCIS EXPRESS . The item was signed for by L BOX.

Detailed Results:

Delivered, June 21, 2010, 9:12 am, CHICAGO, IL 60603

Arrival at Unit, June 21, 2010, 8:41 am, CHICAGO, IL 60604

Processed through Sort Facility, June 19, 2010, 7:47 am, CHICAGO, IL 60666

Processed through Sort Facility, June 18, 2010, 9:09 pm, COPPELL, TX 75099

Processed through Sort Facility, June 18, 2010, 5:38 pm, WACO, TX 76702

Acceptance, June 18, 2010, 4:23 pm, WACO, TX 76706

- I am little bit worried because it says "the item was signed by L BOX". I assume L BOX means Lock Box. So probably no person has signed it. The pdf image for the signature is not at all clear. I cannot see any signature on that. But the relief sign is that it says that "the item was delivered...to USCIS EXPRESS"

- I will keep it updated with the evidence so that there is no confusion on this issue. Hopefully I am not wrong in sending the package to the express mail address using the USPS express mail.

Looks like this topic is really confusing with different opinions.

opinions are over-run by dates, also over-run by reading current instructions.

If you are requiring a signature, use the courier address.

Otherwise, use the PO Box address.

The instructions have changed over time, for which address to use, as well.

Good thing you revived a 2 year old thread, ya?

Helps to show ppl how this stuff gets confusing.

AND. Tis Time to move it all to the CR-1 forum.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I agree they are my words and I don't understand why you had to interpret the way you did. Anyways I would encourage you to see this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/250107-express-mail-via-usps/
