Cost Plus - World Market is pretty good too (on the international foods) - can get REAL black tea there as well as other goodies. I know there is one in the Woodlands (north of houston) - and they are scattered across the country.

Yes, we have one in Amarillo. Not the cheapest, but the last time I was in there, they had Marmite!

Hey, where's the cheapest place I can buy Marmite online in the US?

The local supermarket stopped carrying it and my stash is running low.

Go listen to some free beats:

Ask the manger to stock it again. Most grocers have forms you can fill out requesting they carry certain items. If they carried it before, chances are they will again. Winn Dixie and IGA are really good about this, and they generally tell me if they cannot get an item.

People don't realize they can do this - which is why our markets turn items so often and carry commercial #######!

British food in Houston - you'd never believe it, but Fiesta (yeah, the Mexican supermarket) over by the medical center had an interesting selection of foods from various foreign countries, and I remember the UK was definitely represented. Being Fiesta, the cost was probably not bad - for those of you who aren't familiar with it, it caters to a pretty humble market (offering things like $2 T-shirts that went unsold at various events and concerts) so they're not likely to charge outlandish prices.

BTW the Whole Foods on Holcombe used to have pizza night every Wednesday with unlimited toppings (up to 3 meats) for one price - and you could use the good deli meats (fajita beef...) as a meat. Wonder if that deal is still around, or if they finally caught on to those of us who would get like $30 worth of toppings as a freebie on a $12 pizza?

HEB is great for Brit food. We have 2 really near us and get stuff for Kris all the time. Also check out World Market if one is near you. They are great for having all sorts of items.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I can spend $60 plus on a little visit to world market but nothing beats the taste of english choc and heinz baked beans.

I know what you mean, I will be spending a small fortune there when I move, unless my mum sends me food parcels so funny the things that I take forgranted will be become a treat LOL

The Krugers on Mockingbird Lane had a fair selection of english products, I don't remember them being that dear but I haven't been there since August. I have decided to start making my own bread when I get there as thats what I miss most food wise. My mum's gift parcels are more likely to be ambre solaire sun protection gel as I haven't managed to find a US supplier.

I will start making my own bread as well as I will have the time, not to keen on the American bread it is a bit sweet for my taste, so I think a bread making book is in order, however the raising bread at the rise and shine grill is amazing and they sell a massive loaf for only $4, but you cant make a sarnie with that well maybe a PBJ LOL
