If you and your fiance do not marry within 90 days of his entering the country on a K-1 visa, then he is considered out-of-status and is an illegal immigrant. He is subject to deportation at any time.

I have no statistics on how often out-of-status aliens that entered on a K-1 are actively tracked down. However, it doesn't mean he won't be deported only if he commits a crime. If he were to walk up to a police officer on the street and disclose he is an illegal immigrant, he may be held and deported.

If you don't mind me asking, is there a particular reason why you don't plan on marrying him? Sometimes people lack funds to file for adjustment of status, but they don't know that you could delay filing for AOS and it's not too big of a deal. (It's certainly a lot better than delaying marriage.)
