This would be great if i can get a lot of answers here. so who, among those who just sent their DS3025 instead of I-693A did not get an RFE? who did get an RFE for that? I really want to know, I am thinking of just sending my DS-3025 but seems a lot of us here did not want to take the risk of getting an RFE and just went to a civil surgeon instead. thanks a bunch guys!

Things are different since May 2008 when the new I-693 was released... I have not heard of any reports about those who submitted the DS-3025 only post May 2008 and if it was RFE or success...

YMMV

The decision on whether to send the DS-3025 versus I-693 depends on several things:

  • can you afford a delay (usually a couple of weeks) to receive EAD/AP? are you looking to work ASAP?
  • were vaccinations part of the visa process in your country or were they optional?
  • does your DS-3025 indicate that you completed all the vaccinations?
  • the price your local CS is quoting you (some people have been quote outrageous prices)
My wife and I sent hers on July 23rd with just the DS-3025. The decision was based on the fact that my wife doesn't need to work right right away and also somewhat monetary (we were quoted $250 on average). She has not been approved yet, but she was transferred to CSC in August, and she did receive her EAD/AP recently. While we can still get an RFE, at this point, it looks like we'll be ok. And if we do get one, we'll deal with it then. Depending on the factors above, you need to decide what's in your best interest.

We just sent Form DS-3025 with AOS last May ...No RFE yet. We visited 2 Civil Surgeons here in Washington State, they each wanted $400. So, we decided to take the risk. Good Luck to you both!!! :)

Does she have her vaccination record....(which include her childhood vaccines?). My husband did not have to take any vaccines for AOS...all we did was take his Mexican Vaccination record to a CIVIL SURGEON. He transcribed the info to for I-693A...and I think they only charged us $30 or $35 dollars...

GOOD LUCK.

FYI... you do not have to complete the whole series of any vaccine before you send out AOS.

As long as the first dose is administered, it's considered "complete" by CIS for application purposes. You don't even need to receive the other doses, nobody will ever ask you or check if you did. Many people just get the first dose, let the Civil Surgeon mark the form and never go back for the rest.

From CIS website:

Q: Does USCIS require that all shots in each vaccine series be completed before applying for adjustment of status?

No. The applicant must have received all the required age-appropriate vaccines that could be given at the time of the medical exam. If the applicant has started the vaccination series, but is not able to complete all the required shots because, at the time of the medical exam, the minimum time interval between shots has not passed, the applicant may still apply for adjustment of status. A waiver is available in cases where, due to required time intervals, it was impossible for the applicant to receive all shots in the series before submitting the application for adjustment of status.

For example, the Hepatitis A vaccine requires that applicant receive two doses of vaccine, six months apart. If the applicant receives the first dose in January, he or she does not have to wait until July, when the second dose would be given, to submit the adjustment of status application. However, the applicant must have received at least the first dose of the vaccine, if appropriate, before applying for adjustment of status.

Hi!

I have read several posts here where people got RFEs for not sending in the I-693. Some people haven't. When David and I did ours, I read the I-485 instructions which clearly state on page 4 that someone who arrived on a fiance visa needs to submit an I-693 vaccination supplement (not an I-693A, which is now not being used). I figured, "Why take the chance?" It's up to you.

Here's the USCIS document on the new vaccine/TB skin test requirements. Depending on when the medical was done, you may or may not need something new...

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

Here are the impt dates from that website.

Date of Medical Exam

Do I have to submit the revised Form I-693?

Does the medical exam have to be done in accordance with the new TB requirements?

Do I have to receive the new vaccines (if age appropriate?)

Before June 1, 2008

No

No

June 1 – July 31, 2008

On or after Aug. 1, 2008

Yes

Do not let the doctor try to get you to do more than you need, a new medical is not needed. It says so clearly in the instructions for the I-693. David and I paid $25 for the transcription. Call around to different Civil Surgeons or use Dr. Arnold on the first page of the I-693 info (see link below).

Go with copies of all the printed documents. The I-693 instructions and the print out of the website that I gave you above.

Here are the I-693 instructions.
