Well, if we go a century back you'd be considered an upstanding American.

If you hate progress, go find a time travel machine so you can be with your own ilk.

Ah is that what you guys now call progress.

Well, since you're so interested in arresting people for doing things in their own home, maybe I could call it "voyeurism". Or jealousy.

What a man does with a goat in the privacy of his closet is his own business.

Well I wouldn't go that far. Goat #### should be arrested.

What if the voters approve of it?

They should all be shot. Right comrades?

"The ruling comes just weeks before Californians go to the polls on a historic gay-marriage ballot question, the first time the issue will be put before voters."

This is the key. If the voters are happy to allow it, then it should legal.

You can't legislate discrimination. That's the wonderful thing about our Constitution and why America is great....we don't just allow a majority rules. The Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law.

Well, given Aficionado's penchant for suggesting the President should toss aside the Constitution at will, it's more and more obvious every post he has no clue whatsoever about the Constitution.

This is a huge difference in our views. This country prides itself on walking all over the majority to appease the minorities. Definitely not the case back home. The reality is you guys are not exactly winning and awards for it or the Constitution. Far from it actually. The Constitution is not a holy grail. It was created by other people and reflected the views and situation of that time. We are now in 2008. Whereas the parliamentary system allows the government to dynamically adjust policy and legislation to reflect the time we live in.

But anyway for me these sort of issues are ridiculous, as is the abortion issue. The country needs to focus on the real issues. If gay people want to be recognized then so be it. If someone wants to have an abortion then so be it. People are going to do it anyway, whether I agree with it or not.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

So if someone got enough petition signatures to put forward a proposition which banned inter-racial marriages in California and the majority of voters voted 'yes', you think it would be okay?

The Constitution is the only thing that has kept this country great, as much as it's turning into sh!t now. And not the Constitution itself, as the Constitution is only as good as the citizens who force their representatives to uphold it. So yes, it's the American holy grail. No foreigner's tirade about the Constitution will change that.

Finally something rational. Too bad it's laden with so much cynicism.

This is one thing conservatives have to grasp. You don't have to agree with everything in the government be the way you like it. MA and CA have gay marriages and are just fine. We're not going to hell in a handbasket with everyone trying to marry their horse, or goat, or sheep, or dog.

Just like what you fail to grasp in your rant against "Crappywood" is that you don't have to agree with or like things that are shown in movies, or on TV, or in video games. However, not agreeing with something and forcing OTHERS not to watch it because of your own disagreements are exactly what the Constitution protects against. The right of my fist ends at your nose, the right of your beliefs ends at my rights.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a super pessimist but I don't see any of this lasting. The people against gay marriage are so vocal and so fanatical that they'll get them all overturned eventually. I just can't understand it but I don't get my hopes up anymore that something good like this will last.

Why don't you ask your spouse or anyone abroad what they think of the Constitution? No one is like wow that is amazing. The parliamentary system is better and that is reality. Hence why most other developed countries use it. Have a look at who else uses the presidential system. Third world countries. I am not saying you guys should throw it out but it certainly needs to be modernized to reflect 2008. To reflect the world we live in. Something the Parliamentary system does very well. Like closing the anchor baby loophole.

It is called international perception. Whether you like it or not you guys are part of an international community. What do you think movies like "W" are doing for America's reputation? Do you think the average Joe abroad knows the difference between republicans, democrats, liberals, conservatives and so forth . Heck no. To them you are all American. So when one fucks up it is like the entire country fucks up. Constantly belittling and attacking all of your leaders does not increase a nations credibility. Same with dividing and tearing the country up with your north / south, blue / red, religious / atheist, black / white, white guilt / racist trenches. In the end you guys lose. As America's reputation goes down the toilet so does your wealth and living standards. All of these things are tied together.

I thought liberals knew better than anyone that there is no winner in a war and stood against war. Yet you guys seem to be in heart of every single domestic battle.

"I can't believe it. We're thrilled, we're absolutely overjoyed. We're finally going to be able, after 33 years, to get married," said Janet Peck of Colchester, who was a plaintiff with her partner, Carole Conklin.

That is awesome.
