hi

my k1 visa is valid until 29th december(i.e the sttamp on my passport says valid till 29th dec) and i plan to go to USA on 14th december

i was readign through the process of applying for SSN and EAD and everyhwhere it says valid till k1 expires

my doubt is:

1) my k1 expires on 29th december or does it expire after 90 days of my entry into USA?

2) for ssn it says, wait for 2 weeks after ur entry into USA before u apply for SSN. If i wait for 2 weeks ,will my K1 expire on 29th dec or will it be valid

3) if i get EAD at JFK airport, will it be valid for 90 days after my entry

please advise

thanks

Not the K-1 visa but your K-1 status after you enter.... SSN can be applied for up to 76 days of entry or in other words, within 14 days of the expiration of the I-94 that you receive at the POE.

YMMV

Right, but do make sure the SSA will checks your I-94 for the right expiry date.

After entry, everything "expires" in conjunction with or based on the I-94. The I-94 expires 90 days after entry.

Once the visa is used to enter the US, its expiration date is meaningless because the visa becomes void. K-1 is a one-time use visa. You must use it before it expires, but once used, it's void. When you enter the US, you will get an I-94 stapled into your passport and it will have an expiration date of 90 days from the date of entry. If you get an EAD stamp, it will be on the back of the I-94, so it will also be valid for 90 days.
