Please advice me on what to do. I need to travel urgently as my dad passed away yesterday. MY I751 is pending in VSC and I need to get a stamp on my passport just to be on the safe side when coming back. I tried making an infopass appointment and the only date available is oct. 14. Can I just go in tomorrow with the appointment letter for the 14th and plead with them to stamp my passport. My dads funeral is on Friday next week and I hope to travel next week at least by Tuesday. Please advice.

Thank you

Stamp it for what? You want special treatment some how? Should have applied for AP with AOS, just in case of such an emergency. You can still file for AP. There are protocols in place for you to travel now and apply for AP while you're out of the country. Check it out.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

Do you have the NOA that gives you 1 year extension? If you do and the extension has not expired, that is all you need. If you don't have the NOA or the extension is expired, I would go today with the appt letter you have and explain the situation.

Murebo, Sorry to hear about your dad. If you have NOA and expired GC with passport, thats enough to travel. I went local office today to get a stamp on my passport. I want to go home, they refused by say that the NOA is enough to show my status when I return back. They said if I want a stamp, they will hold my expired GC and NOA.

Thanks to those wit kind words and for your advice. I applied for the I751 in April and is pending at VSC and I have a valid NOA. The reason why I need the stamp on my passport is that my current passport is brand new (there are no stamps on it). I still have my old expired passport wjich has the expired F1 visa and the expired stamp I got after my !485 approval. I just want to be pn the safe side coming back since I have read horror stories from others on this forum about coing back with NOAs.

I will try and stpb by the local office today here in Dallas today. I will say a prayer and hope to get a good sympathetic officer.

You don't need any stamps in your passport. Your expired GC and the NOA are what you require to reenter the U.S. You have no need for Infopass--I recommend you cancel the appt to free it up for someone that needs it.

Yes, if you have the NOA letter and your expired green card you are good to go. Your new passport will allow you to travel internationally and enter your home country, but it is the NOA letter and the green card that will allow you to return to the US. They will only give the stamp if you DON'T have the NOA letter or the letter is expired and you are still waiting a decision on the I-751.

I am so sorry for your loss. Don't worry about making the infopass appointment - you are good to go as soon as you can make your travel arrangements.
