Oh Cr@p! I think I may have made a mistake on my I-765! I was just reading another post out on the forum and had totally forgotten that I have had permission to work here before! I had a J-1 visa and worked for an au-pair agency which brings us from Europe for a year. They fill out all of the paperwork, etc. Well the form asks if we ever applied for work authorization before and now I don't know if my answer "no" is right! I've never applied to USCIS for anything before (everything was done in London) and have no documentation from any of the J-1 stuff, since it was light years ago , in 1988! My Biometrics is on Thursday, maybe I should mention it...or call...or something...what the heck should I do?!!!

Don`t worry, it was not EAD you were working with. It was a DS-230, not I-766.

Thank you Tanyaru - you stopped me a whole lot of worry!!! That's why VJ is such a great resource!

Hi Beantownbabe,

You got me worried too, because I also was a nanny before, and like you, I never thought about it when filing the papers!! :bonk:

I don't think we have to worry, because we never had a card, and in my case, I didn't even apply for a SSN...

I will let it like that, and see if something comes up. If it does, then I will just explain that because I never had a card, I didn't think I had to mention it.

And now Tanyaru mention it, I do remenber the DS-230, so yes, I got scared for a minute too!!

Phew, I'm glad it wasn't just me that didn't even give it a second thought! I had visions of everything going up the creek and it looking like I was trying to conceal the fact! I actually did apply for a SSN all those years ago, so I do have a number and declared that on the forms of course - I've never used it for work though. I'm going to look for the DS-230 to see if I remember anything from it. Good luck!

Ok so we got our RFE letter today.....I sent in my information for the sponser but also sent in my mothers because I knew my income is wayyyy below poverty level. The RFE says that they need the most recent taxes for the joint sponsor.....Would that me my mother? It also states that the joint sponser needs to be a citizen.....SHE IS! Am I supposed to send in her citizen letter or is that just a standard thing they put down?

Yes, the joint sponsor is your mother - if you are the Petitioner. I think the Citizen part is standard wording - I've seen that on a few threads here. You would have to send her passport, birth certificate or something of that nature. Good luck!

alxmrt,

couldn't hurt to try and get the bio done early why not? although i thought someone here said that not all offices accept walk ins so you may want to verify first if you can do that if it's far. if it's close then definitely go for it since the whole thing takes 15 minutes or less.

GOOD LUCKE
