I was wondering... what IF it turns out she is a good debater? This whole process has been so full of absurdities and surprises that it would be interesting.

The irony is, since you obviously missed it, is she is a person of "principles", and so are the Republican party, so I doubt those principles are based upon science, since morals aren't scientific. Fossils and carbon dating, on the other hand, is. You and Palin seem an awful lot alike.

Despite the numerous grammatical mistakes in the above statement, I think I understand where you are coming from. Morals may lack a scientific basis but there's nothing inherently moral about science either. Science is amoral.

fossils are facts, they're REAL, unlike the bible.

Bibles are as real as your fossilized skull. You can argue about the content but the book itself is real.

Science is not on a moral scale. Amorality implies a lack of morals. Many words that begin with the letter 'a' mean that they are the opposite of the rest of the word. Like, the agnosia you frequently display in these threads. {anosognosia, integrative agnosia, etc}

I think it'll all depend on the type of questions that are posed. If she can do the 'hometown girl made good' thing, or attack 'corruption and the good old boys', areas where she is comfortable then I am sure she will manage fine, but if she debate gets more serious and goes into policy questions then I think we'll get more of the garble speak.

It is a shame that she isn't more versed in real politics than she is, it just seems wrong to me that anyone can get this kind of leg up over legitimate, long serving politicians just because McCain liked her 'profile'. Even that would have been ok if she was some bright spark acedemically and had a really good grasp of foreign policy, or economics or well, anything useful really, but as it is, all she has is pazzaz and the abililty to hold down a job and raise a family. Erm, not many women like that around now are there?

Well this is why I'm suspicious of the McCain camps attempts to revise the format of the debate - precisely to avoid the questions and the sort of back and forth that would show up her weaknesses.

I certainly agree that there are better choices McCain could have made (Lieberman would have made sense) - Palin seems very much a tactical choice, not only for populist appeal, but because she would satisfy the religious conservative crowd who weren't happy with McCain's Laissez-faire Republicanism.

I'd have had a hard time supporting a Republican adminsitration after the atrocity of the last 8 years, McCain could have pushed an entirely new political platform based on his established record (that would really show that he intended to make real change). That he pandered to the religious crowd to garner their support is rather disappointing. He's pissed away his principles as far as I'm concerned.

What it shows I think - is that McCain doesn't really have the energy to attempt any sort of reform programmes. Not much different from the selection of the current Pope - at best he's a "safe", transitionary figure who will keep things ticking over for the real reformers once the public gets genuinely p*ssed off with the same old two-party circus.

It is wrong... but it won't surprise me even IF she bombs it... those that could care less about it will still vote the way they want to vote, even with such a curious ticket to vote for.

You have a point. But its the name of my candidate that I will check on the ballot not the electors' so I consider it voting for my candidate. Anyhow, I wish this will be over soon. Im tired of the bashing and name calling.
