I couldn't help but think of my parents when I saw this topic. My dad was from Arkansas, my mom from Illinois. They were professional country and western musicians (even toured with Johnny Cash in the early years).

They often would verbally spar with each other for laughs and at home it would eventually come to my dad saying "Damned Yankee!" and my mom throwing back a quick "Dumb Hillbilly!" in response.

One night, down south at a show they started going back and forth on stage and he threw out the "Damned Yankee!" and she turned around with that "Dumb Hillbilly!" and you could have heard a pin drop as the entire place went silent. Mom says she never wanted to find a hole to crawl into so bad in her life up there on stage with everyone starring at her. LOL
