Star_dragon, its going to happen as disappointing as it is. Someone said something awful to me yesterday I'm still not over. Our local Mervyns is closing for good and they said, "Oh well its probably because they have all those hijab wearing Muslims working there. I know so many people who won't go there because of it!"

That was a nice fight we had. *sigh*

The public never ceases to let me down, such a shame.

My ex is a civil war buff, l too think using live ammo would make it much more exciting

What can I do? My sister left a voice mail on my phone...that she is sorry and has to say goodbye........

She has threatned so many times in the last 3 months to kill herself, her kids don't take her serious. She tried to overdose in June and they pumped her stomach. I am so afraid, that she will do it again. I just know one of these days, they will find her dead. I am at my wits end. I can't fix her. I can't heal her, and I can't make her want her to live.

A family intervention? Should I try to get my dysfunctional family in one room and talk to her?

Sorry I just had to get that off my chest. I don't have anyone to talk to and afraid I'm gonna lose my sister.

Jackie- im so sorry about that but i think no matter how many times she threatens you shud take her seriously each time because as u said its going to happen any of these times!! I know u re feeling helpless but do what u have to do and then leave it to Allah. Visit her at least or if not yes the family intervention is a very good idea may be when she sees how loved and cared for by her family she wd have a reason to stay alive! Anyway u decide i hope ur sister finds peace.

Definitely get the family involved. This is too much for one person to take on - I dont care how strong you are - you can't deal with this by yourself

She does not have insurance, so a state hospital is probably her next stop. I feel helpless.

you alone can not fix this and after 20 years not sure, can you not go ahead and have her comitted as a emergency situation...i would call and find out what can be done....get her in there so she can be watched evaluated and hope for the best...if left alone im sure in time will come to the end if she is this bad. Doing this will prob be very hard on you to do but know that it is best for her now....

i belivee when someone threatens suicide the police will come....

A few weeks ago, I called a county therapist. He said an adult family member needs to drive her to the er room and can sign her in for 5 days.

I erased her message on my phone (its habit to push '7' after a message). I did not call her kids to tell them, but I feel I should. If I don't call and tell them, and she does it how can I live with that knowledge?

I don't want to see her hospitalized but I also don't want to bury her. She is 59, feels she has no life to live for. I have a plan. I will message our sister in South Carolina, message my sister in Wisconsin, message her kids and ask everyone how we should deal with this as a 'family'. *cough* I realize not ONE of us can do this alone, but maybe togehter we can help.

Thanks for being my sounding board. It's time to quit passing her around and do something!

yes its past time to wait for family..in 20 years and nothing has changed..take action and do what u can now.....call your nearest mental health association or state hospital to get recommendations...she wont like it and she will be mad and angry at you BUT just think in the future is she can get better how great that would be and you will know you did all things possible

Jackie, recently, I had a good friend who committed suicide. For years she was on many pills, suffering tremendously. She had gotten to the point where she just couldn't go on anymore. One day when she was home alone, she finally killed herself. She left her husband a note and in it she wrote, "I feel that my mind is like a hollow crystal ball." She was just that fragile. Naturally, everyone was in shock but a few of us knew that she was in such a terrible mental state. For years, her husband, family and friends had tried to get her help - oddly enough, her issues with depression started after the birth of her first daughter when she had post-partum depression issues.

When it happened, we were all in a state of shock and disbelief - how could she be here one day and gone the next. We got together and started talking about it...what could we have done different, was this our fault, why didn't she do more? I stepped back and said, "look at what her note said - 'hollow crystal ball'." She was in no condition to fight anymore and basically, had given up years ago. I miss her, but to be honest, since it happened all of us have felt a sense of peace. She's at peace, she's with her Lord and she's no longer suffering in her tragic state.

I'm not saying to not intervene, intervene away - but, I do believe that there are some people who just aren't meant for this world and they cannot take it anymore. I want you to know that you can support your sister, her family can support her, her friends. But remember, the thing about suicide is she will make that final decision and nobody will be able to stop her once her mind is made up. I am so sorry that you have to suffer through this...sometimes it really is too much to bear. I will be praying for you and your family.
