so they're both the same then?

Duh

We are gonna end up with the same system regardless with these two parties. They are gonna both usurp each others ideas to attract each others base in order to survive. Everything is geared toward these two parties. The networks, Bureaucracy, etc. No matter what you hate about the one party is gonna be eventually adopted by the other. It was not that long ago when the Democratic party used to advocate lowering taxes in order to reap more monies. The Dems used to be very Conservative. The Reps usurped this when the Dems moved toward more Socialist policies.

People are not ideologies, however crudely defined.

i'm comfortable in the knowledge that i can make a decision based on a given situation rather than label myself an absolute, how about yourself? ;)

Oh I don't know - I think I'd have to call my therapist and figure out with him how I'm feeling about that issue. Because apparently I and people like me base our decisions purely on emotion, rather than logic or reason ;)

Naturally. I never bought the idea that the Democrats were any better at running the country than the Republicans, though a clean sweep is often a good thing - even if you have to do the same a few years down the road when the next batch gets stinky.

I never bought into that ####### either. I would prefer a clean sweep myself. The Socialists lose both control in the congress and the so called Conservatives lose control of the White house.

The Socialists again chose someone unelectable. It seems they do not want the white house.

I find this "socialist" label curious. Have you been watching the news in the past few days? The White House is directing the bail out of corporations right and left and assuming their bad debt. Perhaps you ought to double-check the definition of socialism and decide who is and isn't one.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says that paying higher taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans.

Biden says he and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama want to "take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people."

Under the Democrats' economic plan, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.

The trouble is, Obama isn't going to give us a tax cut. He will give us a tax rebate. That means that the 40% of workers that pay little or nothing in taxes will get a check. That isn't a tax cut, that is a redistribution of wealth. It will do nothing to solve the deficit problem.

Money that will be spent supporting our economy. ;)

No trouble there. And yes, the tax cut itself can be legislated. As it can also be modified to be more in tune with the times. Otherwise, the current rates set wouldn't need to be revised/renewed/expired to make way for new legislation.

So you like the idea of redistrabution of wealth. And you wonder why the "socialist" label gets thrown around.

I thought it was about tax cuts. I guess you realized you'd be getting more under Obama, you decided it was about redistribution of wealth. By the way, all societies at all times have "redistributed wealth" or else they have imploded. Highly stratified societies are inherently unstable. Check a history book.

That really mussed have p***ed him off.

I can think right away how to save about $12 billion a month!

So, if we weren't in Iraq, everything would be peachy? The money we are spending there would be used to eliminate the national debt, instead of new and expanded government programs? We'd all just be given the money back?

Instead of having your kids pay for it down the line on top of their necessary expenditures, yes.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

That is actually an interesting prediction. Whether or not plausible in this country... well... perhaps if people got rid of the finicky and petty attacks on nonconsequential tidbits from within each ''idiological'' labels ascribed to them.

Swings and roundabouts isn't it...

The government is taking a socialist approach to the current market problems, but it doesn't make the government a socialist government.

ETA - I have to laugh whenever communism and socialism are brought up in discussions about public healthcare. I mean... is it possible to get any more alarmist?

Before you get your panties more in a wad go read further back a page or two and then come make your correction. The only reason you are upset with that label is because the Socialists (Dem) are just that and trying to downplay it. Revel in it and run with the idea. It looks deceitful and like lying when it is denied. And again the so called Conservatives are just that. They are the same as the Socialists.

The definations are the page before and fit the Socialist to a "T". Go to Obama's website and see the Social programs he either wants or wants to expand. This makes him a Socialist. He even said he will raise taxes on his own website to pay for it. (I actually agree that the programs should be paid for if we want them so have no probs with tax raises)

99.99% of your 21,000 posts are spent rebutting others or talking gibberish.

You're definitely someone who enjoys fighting with others for the sake of fighting. Or you go on and on about nothing.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

So... I rebutted your silly, stereotypical argument. What's your point?

Coming from the clown who blames White men for the worlds problems.

Still waiting on your degree and what you did at google. Funnily enough your clone # 6 also hides his background..
