The answer to your question is plainly visible on the uscis website.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

so do you have to file before october to go thru the new exam system for the interview? Or is it for everyone having their interview after october??

More than 60% of the questions on the new test are on the old test, just a guess, I didn't count them. We downloaded the test at http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/100q.pdf as well and reviewed the questions, just in case. You have 100 questions to memorize instead of 96 if applying on or after 1Oct2008, actually my wife could answer most of the geography questions, where she had to memorize the four constitutional amendments that deal with voting. Ha, asked her that question the other day, she forgot, well so did I, 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th, I think.

Also went over the English vocabulary and writing just in case that asked her to spell pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, but it was all simple words.

How about Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogoch

Slightly amuses me that Americans can take exception to spelling of English words when they can not spell them correctly themselves.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Least my wife didn't have to write, "I am indubitably an exquisitely superlative maestro cook." They just settled for writing, "I am a good cook."
