So I wake up this morning with a raging pain on the right side of my mouth. Background, just had one extraction and two root canals on my left side, I have always been a dentist wet dream. So now my left side feels great, and not but three days later I wake up to hideous pain on my right side. I had to call my dentist today and he again prescribed the same deal antibiotics with hydrocodone 10mg. I just want to SCREAM, what is going on with my mouth; it seems like a complete rebellion, my mouth is fighting me. So needless to say I am not a HAPPY CAMPER AT THE MOMENT. I am higher than a kite, and still I can feel that pain in the background, like a constant reminder, I have done the salt water rinse, the numbing med, I am just waiting for the antibiotics to kick in and once the infection gets under control the pain will go away, oh how sweet that will be. I once read that in World War 11 that sometimes prisoners of war would be subject to having their teeth drilled or pulled without any anesthetic in order for them to give up top secrets. I have to be honest here, they wouldn’t even have to drill or pull any of my teeth, just the mention that there would be something painfully done to my mouth without anesthetic, and I will tell you what you want to know. Shameful, but truthful.

The one drawback to refugee is that he will have to wait until he has been here 5 years before he can apply for citizenship, but he says he doesn't care about that. He just wants to be with me. I think I am going to work on him getting me the paperwork because I really think we should do both. They may be going slow on his paperwork for refugee just because they know he has another way here. Who knows with them?

Happy Caturday, Y'all! I just made some homemade vegetable beef soup and it's a-cooking away in the crock pot. Will be ready late tonight with some fresh French bread from Sam's. (sorry for all who are fasting - I didn't mean to tempt anyone.)

S & S - he might actually be able to apply for citizenship after 3 years if married to you and meeting the 3 years residency. Maybe, maybe not - but it would be worth investigating a few years down the line.

Thanks for that advice Stashi, later on I will have to check that out!

S & S I don't know if I'm overstepping telling you about this because I have to find the articles to back it up. But we just had a Journalist come speak at our classes, Molly Hennessey-Fisk, who works for the L.A. Times and reported from Iraq. She told us yesterday in class that the journalists interpreters were being given US asylum for helping them, because they can't go back home as people from their village plot to kill them when they learn of people that help American Soilders and Journalists. Especially in the Shia populated villages of southern Iraq.

They also plot to kill any fellowship students that go to the US or other Western cultures to learn about the technology and advancements and get an education and after two years when they go back to Iraq the people kill them. So they changed legislation so that the fellowships could apply for asylum and stay in the US because what's the point of going back when you're just going to get killed. They can't help their country at this time but maybe when things stabilize more there they can go back and help. One of the fellowship students own brother killed him when he came back. And this happened with many others. It's very sad but a sure fire way to get a visa here now.

Hopefully though your Husband is in a safe place and able to get the visa soon.

Yeah, it is really frustrating to hear on the news. They say they don't want all of Iraq's educated people to leave because of the "brain drain" effect. That stupid Iraqi president claims he is working so hard to make Iraq better when really he is just lining his pockets and his cronies with money while giving his people almost nothing. They don't point out that most of the educated people cannot stay because their lives are threatened. What good does it do to keep all these doctors, scientists, journalists, teachers, etc if the ignorant, uneducated people will just kill them? My husband was already threatened and forced to leave. Now he is told that because he married me, they have another reason to kill him. He cannot go back to Iraq, not now, not for decades possibly. I wrote the department of state about all of this, all my paperwork states the situation, but it has not helped us. Trust me, if they are muslim, then they make it hard because they don't care. I'm really losing faith. All the christians, single, married, etc have already came to the United States from my husband's group. They got their phone calls end of July/early August. I am so upset with the process right now, you have to ignore me. I just thank God I can go see him before starting in on the rest of the wait. I also decided if they want to continue jerking us around then I will leave this country next summer and be with him wherever that is. I can't wait forever.

Well, my soup is souper! It turned out very well - I'll give you the recipe:

1 pound stew beef cubed and lightly browned. (I actually had some left over sirloin and tri-tip so I cut it into cubes.)

2 bags frozen mixed vegetables. (green beans, corn, carrots, and lima beans)

1 potato (peeled and cubed)

1 envelope Onion Soup mix

1 beef boullion cube

1 64 oz bottle of V8 juice

Optional - dash of parsley, dash of crushed red pepper - I also had a few diced red tomatoes that I threw in. I put it in the crockpot for 4 hours on high. I hope you enjoy.

I make something similar to that, though I don't use a crockpot (I don't have one, lol). I use a regular pot and sometimes I vary the potatoes and use egg noodles instead. I haven't tried the V8 juice before, that is a good idea, I usually use tomato paste but it is tricky in how much to put. I also cook the meat for over an hour by itself before putting in the vegetables. While it is by itself I put some Cumin, seasoning salt, and a couple other things in.
