Accurate Visa Status Dates

My fiance and I have been trying to determine an accurate NOA2 status date. Our NOA1 Visa petition was received by the VSC on May 19, 2008. The Visajourney website indicates that NOA1's received on May 24th are now under review but when I check the NOA1 website it says they are still working on NOA1 submissions from January 2008. I have contacted my congressmans office and requested an inquiry, which they did, and was told the same information.......that K-1 Visas submitted in January 2008 were still under review and since ours was submitted in May it would be another 4 months just to reach the NOA2 stage.

This does not sound right that it would take 8 months from NOA1 to NOA2. I even hired an immigration lawyer to make certain that all of our paperwork was correct because my fiance and I are both anxious to get married and start our lives together.

Has anyone else encountered similar issues with their Visa status? :help::help:

Thanks Emma_Austrailia, my fiance and I were starting to get depressed by the negative comments received from our congressmans office and our attorney. My congressmans representative told me that it could take up to a year and "we could wait if we were really in love". My attorneys office was saying about the same. I don't think they realized that being in love and planning to be married makes being apart that much more difficult. I fly to Mexico to visit her every 1-2 months, as often as I can really, but she is not allowed to enter the US until we have the visa approved. Thank goodness for e-mail, text messaging and a good long distance phone plan. I can't imagine how you are dealing with the distance from Australia. Good luck!!

The official time frame given includes all outstanding K-1 petitions. Some petitions get delayed for a variety of reasons including errors, security clearance, etc. Most petitions are cleared out well ahead of the official time frame.

For exampler, a majority of the Vermont K-1 filers for April and May have received their NOA2. And have moved on to the embassy interview step. But, there a stragglers from Feb. who have not been approved yet.

Search the forum for a link to Igor's list and it will give you a snapshot of the latest approvals from both CSC and VSC.

PS. VSC is running about about 4-5 months and CSC about 6-7 months.

Is it sad that I'll consider the USCIS dates being updated AT ALL on Sept. 15 to be a sign of progress?? Last month was really frustrating... So now imagine my joy if they actually move in to February!!!
