Hi everyone,

I am sending my husband an email listing everything he needs to send me for the NVC. I have read through the State Department website, but this whole process has made me very paranoid/obsessive compulsive...so I just wanted to check in to make sure I've listed all of the necessary documents. I'd like to avoid a last-minute UPS delivery if possible.

We are doing appointment post processing in Accra, Ghana for an IR-1 visa, so I told my husband to send me:

+his original birth certificate

+our original marriage certificate

+his police certificate

+2 passport photos

+photocopy of biographic data page of his passport

+DS-230 (with Part II unsigned)

I also told him to send me DS-3032 because I wasn't sure how reliable the email system has been. I figure he can leave both DS-230 and DS-3032 undated for me to fill in, in case our NOA2 is real far out...

Am I missing anything??

Many thanks! Medase pii!!

Hey guys.

If i have only one birth certificate is the notarized copy is good enough? It will need translation regardless. So if i get a copy of my birth certificate and get it translated, and then get it notarized should that be enough? I don't think in my country we can get another original birth certificate.

Also what they mean by certified documents? is there a difference between certified and notarized? Because I'm a little confused.

Thanks

Hi ,

In case of my birth certificate, I sent original birth certificate with original translation and the translation was not notarized but ( i choosed sworn translation agency)

I only have one brith certificate in my country they only issued one.

certified copy here means certified from the office which issued your birth certificate. but notarized birth certificate is not accpeptable so I didnt do this.

If you can get certified copy , you can send it to NVC but you have to show the original when you are interview with CO.

Good luck

Hi,

dont forget if your documents are not in english , you have to have translation .

Just spoke to an operator at NVC...(even though I'm still waiting for PCC).

Since she didn't have any feedback on my AOS package, I asked about content of IV Package.

She said all docs should be in original language...no translation needed.

I was like, "are you sure???", she said "Yep, no translation needed".

YEAH, sounds goofy to me...but that's what I was told.
