So my fiance went back to Haiti on June 11, 2008...It is the worst thing that I had to go through and It is not getting any easier almost three months later. We got our first NOA on July 28th and it seems like an eternity waiting on the approval notice. I was wondering how sometimes i read that it only takes 30-45 days to receive an approval notice but on here I am reading that it can take up to four months? I was just wondering what insight and encouragement anyone has to offer because it is getting harder not easier as time goes on. I thought the processing dates that are listed on uscis.gov website were the dates that they will return to the U.S...I thought it only takes six months for the whole process to be done and over and for him to be in my arms again...it is very disappointing to find out that it might be even longer...Can someone explain it all to me and tell me when I should be expecting my love home??? Thank you so much....

If you dwell on this, yes you will go crazy! We've all endured the separation and angst that comes with it. As for me and my hubby, talking everyday (either online or by phone) helped a great deal. We would visit as often as possible too...I know that's not a possibility for everyone though. I also took this time to get my house in order, spend time with my daughter, my friends, my beloved mother. I didn't focus so much on the distance, the wait, the loneliness. If I had done that, I would have been insane. I also hung around VJ an awful lot learning as much as I could about this process...and making a few friends along the way. :)

As for when you can expect your love to be home with you...no one will be able to tell you this. You can do a search within VJ for others who have immigrated here from Haiti and get an idea of the wait time from their timelines. Other than that there is no definitive answer to that question.

It will happen m'deah... (F)

You have to be patient otherwise you'll just go nuts.

Not sure where you heard it takes 30-45 days to get an NOA2 but that's incorrect. If you filed in June, (first of all I have no idea where you filed because your timeline isn't filled in, so therefore we can't tell if you filed at CSC or VSC), then you could possibly be looking at an approval (NOA2) anywhere between October-December, assuming there's no problems with your petition.

I am not sure where you got your information about the ENTIRE process only taking six months, but you were incredibly misinformed. ;)

Click the link I have provided down below and read the guides. Also, if you want people to give you an estimate, you need to fill in your timeline.

Good luck.

The waiting game is really painful for some of us. But we are lucky as we have a big family here in VJ. All we can do at the moment is wait and be patient.

Best of luck! (F)

We have the same noa1 date...July 28th. The timeline shows us getting our noa2 sometime the end of October.

All you can do is wait, as hard as it is. I'd love to have seen my fiance as recently as June....it will soon be a year for us.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thank you everyone for your support. And we have friends that went through the same thing (one in america, one in haiti) and it took them six months for the whole process. They got their approval letter after 46 days. I have also read in several places that it takes up to six months. On here I saw that Haiti can take up to only 17 days between the consoluate recieving the package to the interview, which is a good thing for us.

I was new so I did not fill in my timeline but I just did so...so is there any more information now that any one can give me as to how fast this thing is going to move along???

Use the immigration timeline link above. Follow the links to the K1 info.

Your friends most likely went through the process when it was much quicker for Vermont. In January of this year some were taking less than a month to approve. Those times have passed tho. For most of us it's been 4+ months.

As mentioned above, you must be patient and find a way to keep yourself busy during this time or you'll make yourself crazy. Read through all of the links at the top and begin to understand just what you will need for your interview and even AOS. Use the time wisely so that you're not scrambling later. ;)

The waiting game is tough for everyone, so you're not alone! You're new to the board, so you probably haven't found the July '08 K1 filers thread. The more the merrier. If you get bored or lonely, you can read my own griping about the waiting process in that thread. Or you can post other happy things, or whatever else you need to get through the waiting game with us.

It's a long wait, but you don't have to go through it alone.

Thank you everyone! But keeping busy doesn't help 24/7. I am a student going to school five days a week and normally I also work 32 hours a week but I injured my back and have not worked in over a month. I go back to work in about a week or so which is good. Weekends to me seems to be the hardest because that is when we spent most of our time together. I know we will get through this but nothing makes it easier. It will all be worth it in the end because I could not imagine myself with anyone else but him...

Do you not have internet access and the ability to chat with each other? Phone availability? What about your home...do you both intend to live there once he's here? Maybe you could start by figuring out how you want to do things...and ask his input with this as well. Then do what you can with what you have and as you are able. Actively doing something in preparation for his arrival might help with the waiting. Staying in contact as much as possible does help...well, it did for my husband and me.

Hon, everyone on this board has felt or is feeling just like you at the beginning. Now is the time to educate yourself on this process. It's not over once he gets here. Familiarize yourself with the AOS process and beyond. LOL, trust me, it will keep you busy. Hang out in the Regional Forum for support too...I bet you'll find lots of others just like you who feel the way you do and can empathise with you.

I have been educating myself on the process since way before he left the United States actually. Nothing will take the loneliness away and we have already discussed what is going to happen many times when he comes back. Actually I dont have much extra time and I have been keeping pretty busy with school and my daughter but nothing helps me miss him less. We talk on the computer about three times a week when he goes to a cyber cafe in Haiti and I try to call him once a week at least. Right now he is trying to get a job in his country to get internet access so we can talk more but still none of this is the same as having him here and I am sure you can all relate to that. We used to talk to eachother every day since we have been together so going from that to now its a hard adjustment and I never expect it to get easier. Thanks for your advice!
