We filed pretty much the same time as you guys, we filed on the 18th of september and called monday and they put in a service request for us. But they didn't do it for interim EAD I don't think. What does interim EAD really mean, does it mean you get your EAD right away when you file interim EAD

She says it means they issue like a temporary card for 240 days...

but of course, it takes 45 days to process the service request...

i don't know... i'm waiting for my husband to get to my work so we can call again together, so we can do the service request. i'll let you know if i learn anything when i call back a 2nd time.

Okay, so i called... three times b/c their computers were down. My husband was there with me... she only asked to speak w/ him to know his name and hear him say, "I'm sorry, I don't speak English"

She said it normally takes about 90 days to adjucate an EAD, but after 75 days, you can do a service request... i guess that means they just open up the case and look at it?? She said to call back if i don't hear anything within 30 to 45 days. This lady did not mention an interim EAD, but i will call back again after 90 days to request one.

Well... at least we did something...

this process is just so frustrating!

I'm sorry to say after 90 days things don't really seem to change much. Then they put in the request and tell you to keep waiting for another 30-45 days, they have no sympathy and no interest in doing anything more for you. I was so lucky to get a nice person who put in a service request for me for my EAD and she told me if I had some kind of response by today to call back, but then she couldn't find my AP and had to transfer me (noooo!!) and I got a useless person who put in the request and said wait 30-45 days. I asked how come there was such a difference in the wait time and she got really snappy with me ~and of course couldn't give me a straight answer (I thought that was a fair enough question).

I thought that being over the regulatory time frame would actually make them care more or do something, I kept thinking if I just get to 90 days then someone will help me for sure. Well I'm sorry, but I don't call being told to wait around for another 1-2 months helpful, am I wrong???

My wish list:

1.) Be able to tell my friends and family I can come home

2.) Get my license back and start driving again!

3.) Get my SSN sorted out

Wow. We have exactly the same timeline. lol

Though I sent out my application a day after you did, the received date on NOA is 9/22 and I also placed a service request on 12/08.

So, now, let's get approved together on the same day.

Regarding Interim EAD, you can request it after 90 days.

You can also go to an infopass appointment to talk to an officer after 90 days.

I hear ya, Kiwibecka...

They were nice enough on the phone... my main concern is that there is a problem... like paperwork lost, or an RFE down the pike somewhere... ? But i genuinely think that the people working the phones only have limited access to that information... Like how awesome would it be if they were like, "Why yes, ma'am, you in fact do have an RFE, and it is regarding this... i'll put in a request to get the letter sent out to asap."

Their system seems so convoluded, and how bored must you be if you are customer service rep and you just have to repeat the same activities day in and day out...

Oh dear... maybe i should send them a cheer-up note or something!!

After my little outburst I decided to call again and ask for an update just for the heck of it, and the woman said I should get both EAD and AP in the post, by the end of the month. I'll believe it when I see it but that's most definitely sounding good to me. I'm sure it's because of the service request (and maybe being over 90 days), so for everyone still waiting ~get those requests in. And for those that have them in, KEEP CALLING! I really believe it depends on who answers the phone as to the kind of help you get, so just keep trying! I still have nothing to show for it on the USCIS website, and even though I don't have an email from them for the AP, like I do for the EAD, it seems that they are working on it. So keep calling, keep calling, keep calling!!!

And I also asked when they take holidays and it's only Christmas Day and New Years Day, so that's good for us.

After my little outburst I decided to call again and ask for an update just for the heck of it, and the woman said I should get both EAD and AP in the post, by the end of the month. I'll believe it when I see it but that's most definitely sounding good to me. I'm sure it's because of the service request (and maybe being over 90 days), so for everyone still waiting ~get those requests in. And for those that have them in, KEEP CALLING! For the holidays, for sure they re going to be close those days, but I bet half of the staff will be on holidays the rest of the week...Xmas week's going to be a slow week...

I still have nothing to show for it on the USCIS website, and even though I don't have an email from them for the AP, like I do for the EAD, it seems that they are working on it. So keep calling, keep calling, keep calling!!!

And I also asked when they take holidays and it's only Christmas Day and New Years Day, so that's good for us.

It's so true, I think this every time I call! I was so surprised she gave me some hope...maybe that's their new strategy, tell the people what they want to hear to stop them calling!!

Have you tried calling? Any more news? I really hope we can all be done with this soon, then we can join that elusive 'interviews' club...
