Right now the entire planet's population (of humans) could fit inside Rhode Island.. with room to spare. The world ain't so crowded.

While nobody disputes that we can physically shove "X" number of people into a given space...the big question is whether the quality of life for said people is better or worse for it.

China has vast areas that are not populated, but overpopulation is still a problem for them. They certainly aren't clamoring for more people to immigrate there. In fact, it's not even a low immigration country. It's a miniscule immigration country if it is even that.
