Happy Saturday all!!!

My husband and I received our approval for our I-130 this week, and the NOA2 came yesterday to say our case has been forwarded to NVC.

We filed both the I-130 and the K-3, and the I-130 was approved and forwarded but the K-3 is not being touched. We were prepared to take the K-3 route, so now we are scrambling to prepare for the CR-1 process instead.

I have familiarized myself with the general process, but I have noticed that the timelines here on VJ seem to be a little off.

Can I hear from some of you that have your interview dates soon, or have recently been approved? I am trying to get an idea for how long it is takeing right now from NVC receiving your case until the interview date.

I realize that everyone is different, but I can tell you that we will receive our bill for the Affidavit of Support and then the I-864. We will not have to do the DS-30332? since we have an attorney for our case.

Any info will be much appreciated, and I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

My timeline is in my signature... not finished yet, but should give you a good idea. (Also, I found myself in the same boat as you, so I feel your pain).

You DO have to do the DS-3032. I recommend via email. There's a good thread that goes over what happens in NVC for CR-1; I'm going to go try to find it now for you.

My timeline is also in my signature.

Some people have gotten in and out of NVC in around a month following the shortcuts.

Unfortunately I didn't find the VJ community where these shortcuts are posted, so my time reflects what waiting for things in the mail take, without any RFE's (so far!). I wish I had known about paying bills online, that is where folks really save time!

Good luck at the NVC!

if u have an attorney, u will not need to do DS3032 as the attorney is automatically assigned as the agent. but u may want to clarify that with NVC...follow loto's guide and u shud b out of NVC in about 40 days.

From what I've seen from other posts on these forums, attorneys are generally not very open to using James' shortcuts to speed up the process. With the shortcuts people seem to be done with NVC in 1-2 months. How long it takes for you will be entirely dependent on how flexible your lawyer is, how involved, and how on top of things they are.

then maybe we are in good shape, we already have all the forms completed, all the supporting documents ready, and all we are waiting for is the bill to be issued. 1 to 2 months would be GREAT!!

Thanks
