Hey guys...just thought I'd update everyone on what our RFE is about:

1-English translation of my French birth certificate (If anyone knows where I can get this done in NJ that'll be greatly appreciated...)

2-Evidence of lawful admission (ex. copy of i-94)

3-Supporting tax documentation (W-2's etc.)

So that's All they want...on the letter is says you have 87 days to submit the information...So I have everything except that translation....HELP...

Hi! Its good thing that you know what they want now I'm sure you can find a french translator that do those things, all i know is that translator had to be certified or something. Good luck keweul and God bless

About the birth certificate, I had the government giving me the multilingual version of it. I can't remember what is the french word for it but so far, no RFE.

You can do the translation of your own birth certificate if you are fluent in both languages. You just have to have a certified annotation at the bottom saying you are fluent. If you search around the forums, you should find an example.

ETA: extrait plurilingue is the word!

Do it yourself and have it certified by someone who's fluent in french. People get confused w/ this....it is the translation that has to be certified, not the tranlator. Do a serach here on VJ and you'll find the text that you'll have to type in a letter which will have to be signed by the person who's fluent in French.

I'm sure you can find a french translator that do those things, all i know is that translator had to be certified or something.

the translator simply needs to certify they are competant in both languages and sign a statement as such. If the OP or spouse fulfills that requirements they can do it themselves

Thanks, I'm not too comfortable with my French skills anymore LOL but I'm gonna check to see if The college out here will do it for me (the French dept.).... ugghh so annoying...I think USCIS should provide a list of translators seeing as though many of us are from countries whose first language isn't english...but that's just my opinion...

I had my friend translate it for me and sign that he is fluent in both languages..and that's it...no translators and no notarization needed...I called USCIS to see if they accept it like that and they said it's fine.. so don't spend your money when you can do it yourself...and then have someone that speaks both languages review it and sign it...

My husband translated for me the first time when we need that for my K1 Visa and ewerything was fine. We do the same thing this time for AOS.

Oh BTW biometrics tomorrow, hopefully no problems there and i'm in & out quickly...(will update tomorrow on this)...
