Our petition was sent on Aug 20 and received today. It's CSC we're dealing with.

We're probably waiting for a RFE, or whatever it's called when.... you basically forget to put a date on your check. Anyone have this happen? I am trying to find more information or to hear some advice. Is there anything we can do to correct the mistake, or do we just wait for CSC to send the check back? Will this add an eternity to our processing time?

They will probobly send the packet back due to the check, not an RFE.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

So I assume they can't/won't cash a check without a date on it, even though all other information is accurate/valid?

My further questions are probably something nobody here knows for sure, but I still have to ask - if they're returning the packet, when is that supposed to happen? Right after they realize they can't cash the check, which, as far as I can tell, happens within a few days of receiving the whole thing? It'd be nice if it worked that way. RFE just sounds a lot more scary than having the whole thing ... sent once more, all over again.

That's what we're hoping, too, since everything else on it is valid...

Oh well, we'll see - I just hope it'll be soon, whatever it is.

Thanks for your input.

Hey Guys,

I'm new to this topic but I've been lurking on VJ for aaaaages, since we started this whole process. I have to say, if it weren't for VJ I'm SURE we would have gotten an RFE (as opposed to just the normal maybe). So THANK YOU ALL!

I sent my packet via certified mail on Aug. 18th and I have yet to see that it's been delivered online via usps tracking. It's driving me CRAZY! I should have FedExed it... sigh. I'm so jealous of you that got delivery the next day.

Anyway, as my Brian says, it's worth the wait. I'll have to sit on my hands and be patient.

He's coming to stay for three months, Oct. 10-Jan 6, on a tourist pass thingy, then going back home to get his packet and do his interview. At least we get to be together through a big chunk of the wait time!

hxxrmonkey,

Welcome to the August CSC waiting room and congratulations on getting your package sent.

You are very fortunate that he is able to come and spend time with you while this visa process takes place. So enjoy your time together.

I too noticed that USPS is slow to update their tracking information. Just keep checking.

What a nice surprise we had today!

Our NOA1 hardcopy arrived in the mail today!

Mailed 20 August 2008.

I was so shocked! and so was she!

At first I thought "oh no" they sent me my money order back because i forgot something.

Then i opened it up and read what it was...

and my heart stopped and then I was so happy!

I emailed her right away and took a pic of the paper work for her!

I registered online with my receipt number!

We are official now!

The NOA1 hard copy is the I-797 Notice of Action the service center will mail you as a receipt.

It just confirms that the USCIS received your application.

Here is a link that shows what it looks like:

I just looked at your timeline and since it's very similar to ours, I'd like to ask a question. When was your check cashed? We're still waiting for USCIS to make a move and either cash my fiance's check or mail the whole packet back to him... (he forgot to date the check). We sent the petition in on the 20th and that same Semegi person signed for it on the 22nd. Nothing has happened since, at least that we know of.
