The Kremlin is angry at U.S. plans for a missile defence system in Eastern Europe, and last month a news report suggested Russia might use Cuba, a thorn in America's side for half a century, as a refueling stop for nuclear-capable bombers.

...

"We need to reestablish positions on Cuba and in other countries," news agency Interfax quoted Putin as saying at the weekly presidium meeting of key government ministers.

You want a Cold War? You gotta Cold War!

'Cuz there's lots of money to be made supplying the military with the tools of the trade.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Dunno. For some the Cold War never ended, otherwise that pesky little embargo would have been lifted a while back.

I'll just sit back, have a drink, and figure out how this country can manage the Iraq debacle, Afghanistan, waging a new war on Iran, and now possibly another cold war. What's next? Giving a nuclear weapon arsenal to to Taiwan and declaring they are now free from China?

Cannot wait to see how the Dems handle this next year..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

putin is following a kgb/soviet old script..acts strong and blame the West for all issues,.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Stupid is the reasoning that negates the business connections many ole' babushkas have over there (no offense to the comrades) to plenty of Western capital in profiteering from emerging energy and consumer markets in Mother Russie.

There really won't be a second Cuban missile crisis.

Cubas attitudes will soften (and to some extent already have) with the changing leadership.

As it should. Hopefully we will decide that perpetuating the Cold War selectively is as silly as declaring Cuba a threat.

Its a non-issue. But the same should really apply to this silly missile shield thing. As with "Star Wars" a bad idea that basically a cash-cow for the arms industry.

Bill Murray + Star Wars ;)

I feel like some Cuban food for lunch.

To them this probably doesn't seem any different to this Missile Defense Shield thing that Bush was gung-ho about setting up.

I couldn't agree more.. If the Americans come along and setup next door to Russia then give them the middle finger.. what do they expect?.. There are going to return the gesture... If someone did it to America they'd respond as well? I'm glad there'll be a change at the top over here next year.. maybe someone in office that has a bigger brain than an ape will scrap this stupid star wars program and stop annoying the only other country on the planet that has enough weapons to wipe out almost the entire planet.
