What if we didn't get our wedding rings until recently? Will that affect anything with our AOS case? We have the interview coming up in the middle of August.

We had a civil marriage, no pictures (just photos of us before it, me in a suit and her in a blue dress), and a couple after it (us at a restaurant). Rings were not required so we didn't get them until recently.

Will the interviewer take note of that when looking through our photos?

We now have photos of us with the rings. And we wear them all the time now. We just didn't get them until a month ago.

IS THAT BAD?????

I really don't think they care about rings. There are quite a lot of cultures don't even use rings in marriage, so they really couldn't take that into account. And even here in the states, I know couples that can't afford rings, or don't ever get them because they don't want them. When we had our civil ceremony, the judge asked "are you using rings?" so it's not mandatory.

I don't think it's bad at all. I doubt they'll even notice. And even if they did - you just say you got them later because you just couldn't wait to be married!

Relax and good luck!

Our journey:

4/30/08 - AOS/EAD/AP mailed to Chicago lockbox

5/1/08 - packaged rcvd at lockbox

5/8/08 - All 3 NOAs received (dated 5/6)

5/8/08 - check cashed

5/10/08 - Biometrics letter received

5/27/08 - Biometrics appointment

6/10/08 - case transferred to CSC - YAY!

7/11/08 - rcvd emails that EAD card ordered and AP approved!

7/18/08 - AP rcvd

7/19/08 - EAD rcvd

7/29/08 - received email: card production ordered

8/2/08 - GREEN CARD RECEIVED IN MAIL!!!

As long as you provide the proof needed that you are actually married, it is not relevant that you recently bought the rings.

I wouldn't worry about rings.I've seen some folks use thread, yarn and mood rings it had meaning and was sentimental for them.

So as long as you provide pictures of you and your significant other together (different scenarios) taken with family and friends helps.

Not having the rings should not be a problem, make sure you have enough evidence that you have a joint bank account filed taxes together etc.

The evidence is the main thing they want to see,if you dont have any pics from the wedding then bring older pics with you.

We have 3 bank statements in both of our names (two at one bank, two at another), one joint credit card account, four of my credit card accounts where she is an authorized user, she is on my car title, she is on my car insurance and also renter's insurance, I have a couple e-mails from when we met, also the flowers with messages I had sent to her (got them online, so I printed out that page for each time: Valentine's Day and her birthday past 2 years), I have her as my beneficiary for life insurance, 401k, all my benefits.

I can also get a letter from our apartment building saying that she does live at this address (since the only way for her to get on my lease is if she has been working for the past 6 months, which she has not).

Do you think that this is enough?

I think that sounds good enough.

When I had my interivew I did not have my SSN#,so without that we where limited on which things we could add me to.

I think we had health insurance, taxes we filed together and that was it.

I also took in my junk mail and wedding congrat. cards but they did not want to see any of that.

Hello,

I was wonderin something about the proof you had to show to prove that you are together for AOS. Do you have to send some for AOS application or is that only necessary to have them with us for the AOS interview? I heard some people don't even have to go to an interview. Does that mean they never have to show prooves of living together?

No you only give them proof at the time of the interview.

If you dont have an interview it means they dont need any proof at that point in time, you will however need to collect evidence for the removal of conditions after the 2 years are over.
