Dealing with IMBRA

IMBRA is the law of the land and for couples who are just now beginning the K1 journey, we must deal with it. The question that comes to my mind is how is this new law going to be impact the process? What are we going to face down this path as a result of IMBRA? Are there now additional forms? Additional interrogations at the Embassies and Consulates? Does anyone know? Fore warned is fore armed.

It seems that all we get are additional security checks, making the process longer than it used to be, as if it wasn´t long enough already.

Further skimming through this new law it seems to me, I apologize ahead of time if I'm wrong:... if the sponsor has no felony convictions, no domestic violence history, has a clean slate, has never sponsored for more than 1 fiancee... then there's no need to worry. The law is to protect those, especially women, from being victimized once they're here in the US. The Law is good in my opinion ... at the same time it sucks because all it would do is slow things down because of the extra background checks. I guess if a persons' visa got approved then suddenly revoked, who knows... maybe there's something their fiancee isn't telling them about their past and the security checks over looked it.

I wish someone would put out a statistic on how many women immigrated to the US by way of marriage and were victimized by domestic violence or spousal abuse. Sad to know, but that would be an interesting number to see especially since the government went out of their way to create a law.

The impact that's the real question is how delayed all of the K1s are going to be as a result of this... no one really knows how the USCIS prioritizes thier workload anyway, and now this....
