One time on my way home from England there was a snowstorm in Amsterdam and I ended up stuck at Heathrow overnight. Then, the next day I made it to Amsterdam but there were no flights left for the day leaving to the US...

ok that's all you get :P

Hm... where do I start. I seriously think I'm one of those unlucky people:

14 hours stuck in Frankfurt when returning from my first ever trip to US

16 hours in Heathrow waiting to get to JFK

12 hours stuck in Orlando on the way to London, with later re-route through Miami

4 hours spent on the runway in JFK waiting to take off for Kiev

6 hours stuck in Montego Bay, Jamaica on the way to Kingston

Craziest ever flight to JFK from Orlando (7am we got to MCO, and arrived JFK at 11:30 pm, plus lost luggage) , but that's our fault for gettign "buddy passes" (stand-by)

Should I try other means of transportion in the future?

the worst lost luggage case for me was when we arrived at Charlotte NC, December 16th 2005 i didnt get luggage until 23rd of December had 2 children with me only clothes we had were what we had on, the airport gave us $150 to clothe all 3 of us, and i didnt get the money until the day we left, that sucked

I sat on a plane for like 3hrs in Amsterdam while the US Embassy (#######?) tried to decide if we were allowed to take off because some of the toilets didn't work on the plane. Then we had to get off the plane and come back the next morning. I met some really fun people on that flight though.

I have got a couple of them, one was in France, being pulled out of line boarding the plane by 7 undercover French police, good times, damn good times. I didn't think I would see America for a while on that one. Another time was in Egypt, I didn’t do what I should have done, and missed my flight, another great night trying to get a ticket booked again. I hate flying, but for some reason I am always pulled off or searched, must look like a mule or something.

We intentionally booked a flight with Air Canada, don't like what our FAA is doing. Even thinking about moving to Canada. No, I would not like to drink a beer with our president.

I missed a flight out of Tallahassee because I was sitting in the bar  And this was at a time that the airport only had 2 gates... I saw my plane taxi in and taxi back out.... I had to wait 24 hours till the next flight out...

did you have to pay or did they just put you on standby?

Nope and nope.... didn't have to pay. They just put me on the next flight. When this happened flights weren't so tightly booked like they are now. I would go back and forth from college to home and half of the plane would be empty. I long for the days of not having to be crammed in next to a full plane of people.

And I didn't have to stay at the airport, just went back to my apartment and made sure I wasn't in the bar when my plane taxied in...hehehe
