I am totally pissed.

Our stimulus check showed up in the mail - and it's NOT $1200 for two people.

I am LPR since Dec'07. We filed tax return, two people, #######???

Same happened to anyone else? You have any idea why???

Frustrated,

Rika

You will not get paid more than the tax you paid to gov't.

I've also read that some wrong payments have gone out and they will correct when you file this year's tax return.

As an LPR, did you have a social security number, as well?

I know of a person that is a single mom with a child. She was originally going to get $900.00, ($600 for her and $300 for her child). She only got the $600. When she called it was automated and it had some weird explanation that I couldn't even follow. Seems odd, she needed it being a single parent more than my husband and I needed (but greatly appreciated) $1200.00.

Yeah,

I had SSN for years and just tried the calculator - we should have gotten $1200.

Hubby says his parents' check was also reduced and that the wait on the phone to the IRS is over two hours!...

We did!

You have to have earned over $3000 for you to get the $600.

According to the IRS: your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:

* You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.

* You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200.

* You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37.

* You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000.

* You married but filing separately and will receive your payment as if you were single.

* You owe back taxes.

* You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations.

As far as I know, none of the above applies to us, unless hubby is hiding something from me?

IRS: "Due to high volume of calls, we can not process your call... try again another day"...

They must have screwed up too many people...

OK, if anyone has the same happened - please tell me, I'd like to know that I am not alone...

You aren't alone... mistakes by the IRS have been all over the media. See Jomo's girls psot above.

So if they owe back child support does that mean they are suppose to give it to the one they owe it too?
