What's the deal with NVC?

I have been trying to get through for two days now with the NVC to get a question answered about my AOS I-864 payment fee bill. I filed two I-130 petitions for my wife and her child. Do I pay $70.00 X 2 or just $70.00 for the both of them? It's a little confusing in there instructions. I am really not sure on this one.

Also, I am kinda of holding off on this but the way that the processing is going it looks like it's speeding up and I might not be ready to have my wife and child come over yet due to my finances. I am trying to get a idea how long it takes from here on out before my wife gets a interview in Manila? Actually I need about another 9 months. But the way I have notice that some people are getting them as earlier as 5 months.

thanks,

martinbr

I would say x2 since they both have separate case numbers. Did NVC assign you a separate case number for both of them? If NVC has assigned them separate case numbers then it is x2

Yes, thank you. They did send to case #'s. So it has to be $70.00X2

Yes. You can also take your time sending them the payments and coversheets with documents needed. Just check with the NVC how long you have before the whole process expires. Also, keep in mind that your wife will have 6 months to use her visa after it has been approved, so that'll give extra time to get things ready here.

The papers say that I have up to a year to pay this part of the process. I am just worried about when it gets down to paying for the Visa application. I believe it's around $400.00 per person. So I have two petitions in which one is my wife and her 11 yr old daughter which is going to be $800.00 there. And then the medical examinations. But the worst one will be the plane tickets. With the rising cost of fuel, who knows what it's going to be next year.

Like I mentioned, my job is getting outsourced around in May 2008. So I will be getting a buyout from where I work. It's one of those things like with this uncertainty of my job status is that I really have to just take the gamble now and get my wife and daughter over here and pray that she can get a job right away. Because I might not even be working at the time this all comes down. But I do qualify now because of last years income. Kind of scary with the economy the way it is right now. I am hoping the economy is going to pick up it's pace next year and I am in better shape.

I have been looking everyday for a second job right now to make ends meet and to help pay for these extra expenses with this I-30 process, but have been very unsuccessful here in California. Everybody is hurting so bad with this Gas and Mortgage crisis.

Read the I-864 fee bill instruction carefully, you will find this:

Instruction: The affidavit of support (I-864) processing fee is $70.00 U.S. per case. *

* Exception: If you are a U.S citizen filing a separate Affidavit of Support (I-864) for your spouse and children to immigrate, you only need to submit one $70.00 fee, which will cover your spouse and children.

Yeah it has been really hard to get to them these past couple of days. I usually am able to talk to them everyday and which I do but this week was really hard but I was able to get them today. Try Thursday I don't know if that makes any difference but Mondays and Fridays always seems really hard to get them. Good luck.

Try to call them early in the morning and late in the night. I personally had few problems getting in touch with the operator, I have been successful 85% of the time talking to them.

Thanks for the advice, I haven't gotten thru yet. I am going to try to call them late on my day off.
