Hello good people!!

My fiancee is from Lima, Peru. I sent in my I129F petition form to the Vermont Service Center at the end of April. I certified it, so I know it was received on May 1, and my filing fee check was processed on May 12. I know this from my bank records. I thought the processing of my check was a good sign. But it is July 12 and I have not heard anything yet. No emails, no phone calls, no letter, nada!! Is this normal or should I be concerned? Perhaps I am just a little anxious. I would appreciate it if someone who has gone through the process could elaborate on this for me. Thanks!

Don't panic yet. I have seen recent and older posts saying that sometimes cases are not "touched" at all and still get approved in the regular time. Maybe after 100 days start to sweat it. Good Luck!

You should have at least received a I-797 receipt notice in the mail by now. I would give them a call.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Vermont is currently taking about 3 months from NOA1 to NOA2.

If you fill in your timeline (> my assistant > edit / add timeline) you will get a range of dates that will give you a more clear idea of when your petition will be adjuticated. Keep in mind this is an estimation based on VJ members only. We are a very small percentage of actual filers.

If you haven't done so yet, you can use the EAC number on the back of your cashed check to login to the uscis website and register for automatic email updates on your case status.

You will not get an e-mail or a phone call. All official correspondence from the service is done via USPS

YMMV

Maybe I mis-understood. It seems like he/she does not have NOA1.

KimandRuss put up a really good shortcut to an interview with an ex-USCIS service center employee. Lots of info. there about possible reasons for delays. I didn't save it, but maybe it could be reposted? You might find it interesting.

Yeah, I got that.

They did cash the check, though, so I assume they can at least register on the uscis site to check their progress. Lots of people don't get their NOA1 (I-797) hardcopy for whatever reason.

edit... Q & A with former adjuticator

In case you're ever looking for it, EWOK was kind enough to add this to the Guides. ;)
