Just wait for the NOA2 to come. Most likely the case number is there its just being overlooked. When ever a check is cashed there are many numbers that appear on the bank. Also if your fiance called the bank and asked about a number on the back, I doubt they could tell him that over the phone. It would be in his online banking when it posts.

Hi,

We just had applied our application 5 months ago, they received our papers January 30 and they encash our check first week of Feb, i guess they don't write receipt number at back of the check, you just wait the NOA1 they will mail it to you approximately 5 to 6 days...like ours was dated Feb 14 and my husband received our NOA1 Feb 20. If you can not hear from them for almost 2 weeks after the encashment, I suggest, better call USCIS. God Bless. Alexa

USCIS phone number is 1-800-375-5283 , just follow the instructions after dial this number (what case do you have). I know it isn't easy, sometimes you have to wait in line between 30-45 minutes to talk with someone.

Good Luck.

USCIS will send you snail mail acknowledging that they received your packet. It's your NOA1 and the number is found on the receipt. You can use that number to trace the status of your case online. I have not heard of the number being written at the back of the check after it is encashed. Your fiance should get your NOA1 a week or two after USCIS received your application.

Good luck!
