Hello again everybody!

So I'm sending a copy of my birth certificate in the 129F package and it just occurred to me-- it's highly likely that I won't be back in the States before my fiancee's interview in Mexico City. Do I need to take my original birth certificate back with me to Mexico? I'd really rather leave it here safe and sound but does anyone think he might need my original when he goes to the interview?

Thanks very much!

My experience is that a cerified copy from the Bureau of Vital Statisitics in the State in which your document was originally filed is considered an original document.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Based on my experience I'd say better to take it. When I had interview, they asked for the original document for my husband (it was my fiancee, and he was there with me that day). It was painful because he didn't have it that time, so we have to wait someone here to send it to Indonesia. The visa was delay few days, but I got the visa after they receive the original document. Good Luck.

Just have a certified copy (raised seal). They dont need the actual 'original' from when you were born but it would be better to have a certified copy in case they ask for 'original'.

The $100K question is why do they need to see the original BC of the petitioner (USC)? Any issues regarding the petitioner's citizenship are to have been determined previously by the USCIS. If the petitioner was not eligible or there was a question to his/her eligibility then the USCIS could not approve the petition unless it was resolved. The consulate is not to re-adjudicate the petition.....

YMMV

Yes, I agree with you.

However, like the poster above stated, i've read far too many consulates having asked for it so I have it ready to send along with all other originals when he is headed to the interview just in case.
