Good News from Colombia

So yesterday we arrived in Cartagena no notice the John McCain plane sitting on the tarmac with a ton of luggage being boarded up on the plane...

Then we went to lunch for some fried red snapper with coconut rice and fried plantains... and the waiter told us as she was serving us the exciting news indeed!!

The whole operation is a testament to some Hollywood style planning that left me open- mouthed... infiltration and trickery... with nearly no bullets fired. This is the power of uising military intelligence. AWESOME.

We´re in the wife´s city of Bucaramanga. All the TV news outlets went from talking about all news (not that much on McCain´s visit, ) to Ingrid Betancourt... a bit ago her kids arrived from France and she was at the airport to receive them after nearly 7 years of being held up.

This is what I call an exciting start to a Colombia trip. Hopefully FARC won´t do anything stupid to retaliate, since they can very well see how happy most Colombians are right now... even though there is plenty of talk that Uribe knew to play his cards at the same time a US Presidential candidate was in the country...

The country is really happy now. The reenactments of the rescue on the news are very absorbing... and the camp captors were put on display by the media. Looks like they´ll be extradited to the States for their part in the kidnapping of the 3 USCs also freed.

But yeah, good argument to pretty much eliminate the criminal aspect of the trade, too.
