I am so tired of feeling sick! These anxiety attacks are started to kill me! I am havinng one on average a day, sometimes two or three! I have been to the doctor who has told me to write it all down, ways to keep my mind from racing and to stop worrying about EVERYTHING! IT'S NOT WORKING  ! Once i start to feel better, i get another one and i feel like ####### all over again! My chest and muscles hurt from all the strain of not being able to breathe properly, backaches, insomnia, headaches, abdominal pain, nausea, no appetite, the list goes on. I dont know what to do!

I just want to be normal again.

I'm sorry, but I just really needed to let this out somewhere.

Awwwwwwww I'm so sorry Stina...I don't know what to tell you. I have anxiety attacks too, usually on a nightly basis. I'll be reading this thread with great interest..although I do belong to an anxiety website, and have spoken to people about it...not much has helped me so far. I know it can be SO scary. Here's hoping you feel MUCH better very! soon. (F) (F) (F) M.

I take Zoloft for panic attacks. Before I was on medication regularly, I would have these awful, heart-pounding, gut-wrenching panic attacks for no apparent reason! My heart rate would shoot through the roof, I'd get paranoid, vomit/pass out, and a whole host of other ####### when nothing was really all that wrong. Life could be all skippy, working car, money in the bank, nice job, good family, good friends, absolutely nothing wrong - and I would just freak the he!! out. Might want to talk to your doctor about getting a low doseage of Zoloft or something similar, it makes things a little bit easier to deal with and get one's head screwed on straight.

That being said, Im truly sorry you're feeling bad, I know how horrible it can be. Feel free to rant any 'ol time you need, that's what we are here for (F). Hope you feel better soon, hon.

Stina - I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles.

However, what I would suggest... at least for the time being... is to get on an antianxiety medication... that will help stop or slow down the anxiety attacks... But... you can't be on meds for the rest of your life, so I would recommend a psychiatrist evaluation followed up by therapy.. in therapy they will teach you methods on how to control your body's senses and eliminate the attacks gradually so you will know how to better cope with them when you do start weening off the medication. I hope this helps...

Please keep us updated on your situation

Stina,

I have so been there. Car accident 18 months ago...PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)...panic attacks in cars...on public transit...for no reason. Then when I was pregnant, I had a bad time...and the stress of being separated from Paul...unemployed...finances...I got really depressed. I went to the local Mental Health Department. They were great.

There is a new therapy out there called Dialectal Behavior Therapy. It is AWESOME. Here is a link to one site that explains it.

http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/

It was originally designed to help people with a Borderline Personality Disorder...but it is proving helpful in alot of other things too like anxiety and depression. The exercises are awesome, practical and really helpful. My suggestion is check out the website...begin the exercises for now...and seek help from professionals...ask if they practice DBT.

Hugs.

Thanks everyone.

It's just getting so hard you know? I have been on medication before (Effexors) and they helped, but I really dont want to have to rely on them for the rest of my life to be happy. It kinda feels like fake happiness and not resolving my problems. I've also had a bad past with psychiatrists that kinda makes me hesitant on going back to them, they didnt seem to help at all. I may try to look into it again because i cannot handle living like this. I havent had a life in weeks and I know its breaking my husband's heart, i cant imagine how he feels seeing me going through this. Like you yassmine, life could be great, everything my way, one minute i am laughing and then all of a sudden WHAM i'm freaking out and it brings me down again. A friend of mine suggested Varedian Root, an herb that you take that is suppose to calm anxiety and help you sleep better. I think I may try it.

Hi again Stina..

Did you respond any way to the Effexor?

I've found that Effexor is more useful for depression combined with anxiety... but... not one simple pill will fix everybody.. it depends on the chemicals roaming around in your body... Sometimes you have to go through several medications before you can find that special one that will help you.

Yes the Effexor's worked for me. But at the time I was depressed and anxious so that may be why it was prescribed for me. I told the doctor I use to take them and he said that if i dont improve i may have to go back on them so perhaps that may happen again.

Well, i am going to attempt to sleep. thanks for lending an ear, will keep you updated.

If you previously used them and responded, you could try them again because obviously your side effects weren't bad enough to stop taking them... if you find they dont work, you can wean off them and try something else... there's no one size fits all pill...

Have a good night and feel free to rant when need be :)

I am so sorry that this is happening Stina (F)

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)
