Well, I got all of the information that the consulate asked for yet again on the 2nd blue slip that my fiancée received. She should have the paperwork mid next week and will return back to Ho chi Minh City and hand deliver the papers to the consulate. I am hoping that this will satisfy the consulates needs once and for all so that we can begin our lives together. Everyday that goes by is another day lost that we could have spent together. It seems that a lot of VJ members have gotten their pink slip on the first or second attempt. I really don't understand what we are doing wrong that we are having such a hard time. I mean we have been 100% truthful and honest and have given them everything that they have asked for, if not more. Hopefully my next post will be good news.

Evidently what you did wrong was not to originally submit what you just now submitted. It helps nobody when you keep that a secret.

It's also possible you couldn't possibly have submitted this documentation at the original interview. It's difficult to comment intelligently because you've provided no information.

He's posted the information before. They asked him for the receipt for the plane ticket, even thought he had provided the credit card statement already, and a supporting statement. It's a typical HCMC stall tactic.

Jeff, I really hope she gets it this time. I got the impression that they wanted to see you though.

Good luck.

Well, we provided them with all of that information just to receive another denial letter. The second denial letter asked for the names, addresses, phone numbers, date of births, copy of drivers’ license for all of her friends and family living in the U.S. This information was difficult to obtain as her family is scattered throughout the US. The person we hired to help us with the paperwork and through the interview told us that the consulate basically does not believe that we have a bon fie relationship and said that I should come and visit her again so that we have more proof. This would be fine and dandy if I were wealthy and could take off from work any time that I wanted. Unfortunately I am like every other blue collar citizen living from paycheck to paycheck. I do however plan to pick her up when she gets her visa because she does not travel well due to motion sickness.

The Catch 22 is that if you don't visit before she gets the visa there may be no visa. Good luck.

It is a difficult decision. My attorney states that it does not always make a difference whether the petitioner is present or not. She has had clients denied regardless. It seems that it is more of a case of catching the consulate on a good day.

I agree. It sucks and isn't fair but they are holding all the cards. The regulations state that you only have to have met 1 time in the past 2 years.

Too bad we didn't meet Filipino wives. They seem to just set a box of pink slips on the porch there. Need one? Just come and get it. No offense to anyone going through there but that's how I see it.

Meeting once in the past two years is required for petition approval but for a visa, a Consular officer must be convinced the relationship is bona fide. It's an entirely different mostly subjective standard.

well if your still getting blues you should be happy, i think the green is worse. the frist time my fiancee got a green, they flat out told her they thought we were just doing this just to bring her here to live and that we didnt love each other. my fiancee left the consulate crying her eyes out. our first green just asked for more proof and a hand written letter from me stating a detailed time lime of our relationship. i did write the letter, i didnt know wht to send for more proof becasue we already submitted all our emails and correspondents from the past year. so i figured we would wait about 10 days and we emailed each other 2 times a day and i called her EVERY night for those 10 day. i also found a few more pics that we didnt submit before. she submitted all those emails, pictures and she printed the phone records. and after all that she got a blue slip, i was kinda happy about the blue because it meant we were closer to the pink. the blue just asked for another copy of the DS156. she went back the next day and got a pink. just hang in there and keep jumping when they tell you, you will get it. btw i have only been to VN 1 time. we asked a lawyer in VN if that would be a problem, he told me normaly they want to see more visits there. he said i might have to go there again during the process so she can submit the recipts. i had my fiancee go talk to a lawyer that i found on VJ, Marc Ellis. he provided alot of helpful info but we did ok with out having to hire him. i just paid for the consultaion. it was worth have someone looking from another side and giving some advise. maybe you should try contacting him to see what he thinks you should do.

The Catch 22 is that if you don't visit before she gets the visa there may be no visa. Good luck.

It is a difficult decision. My attorney states that it does not always make a difference whether the petitioner is present or not. She has had clients denied regardless. It seems that it is more of a case of catching the consulate on a good day.

well if your still getting blues you should be happy, i think the green is worse. the frist time my fiancee got a green, they flat out told her they thought we were just doing this just to bring her here to live and that we didnt love each other. my fiancee left the consulate crying her eyes out. our first green just asked for more proof and a hand written letter from me stating a detailed time lime of our relationship. i did write the letter, i didnt know wht to send for more proof becasue we already submitted all our emails and correspondents from the past year. so i figured we would wait about 10 days and we emailed each other 2 times a day and i called her EVERY night for those 10 day. i also found a few more pics that we didnt submit before. she submitted all those emails, pictures and she printed the phone records. and after all that she got a blue slip, i was kinda happy about the blue because it meant we were closer to the pink. the blue just asked for another copy of the DS156. she went back the next day and got a pink. just hang in there and keep jumping when they tell you, you will get it. btw i have only been to VN 1 time. we asked a lawyer in VN if that would be a problem, he told me normaly they want to see more visits there. he said i might have to go there again during the process so she can submit the recipts. i had my fiancee go talk to a lawyer that i found on VJ, Marc Ellis. he provided alot of helpful info but we did ok with out having to hire him. i just paid for the consultaion. it was worth have someone looking from another side and giving some advise. maybe you should try contacting him to see what he thinks you should do.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I suppose that it could always be worse. We have just been through so much, first the ordeal of trying to obtain our marriage license from Vietnam and now this. I did contact Mr. Ellis and he did respond back to my initial email but hasn't responded back since. I am not sure if he is just very busy or just not interested.

Congratulations on getting the pink slip. When will she be coming to the U.S. to live with you if she hasn't already?

thanks! hopefully we will be telling you congrats soon too! she will be here june 20th. that if all goes good on the visa pick up date, the 16th. i would guess mr ellis is really busy, seems there is plenty of work there for him. atfer what i have been through there i really belive they just want to "test" some people. i think they figure if its not for real most likely the applicant and sponsor will just give up. if you think about my case, why would they want a hand written letter form me about our time line, it was easy enough for them just to look at all the things we submitted and it would have told the same story, and they asked us for MORE evidence. i think they figured if we are really in love we would find something to submit as more evidence. just keep trying, a lady at the consulate told me, when i called about the green slip, to becareful when i write the letter to explain clearly and to take my time dont rush. she repeated the dont rush several times. i guess that was really helpful, i didnt rush to get the letter to them and it gave us more time to gahter more proof. did you go with the K1? or the marriage one?(i dont remember what it called)
