i dont know about other states but in the state of Oregon u have to take classes so that u fully understand the burden and duty that also come with getting a concealed weapon permit..........its not as easy as people think it is when we took our classes about half the class failed and was not issued a permit......after the classes u have to go to the police department and get finger printed to make sure ur not a criminal trying to get permission to carry a gun..........and they did ask us why we felt we need permission since there is a very old law on the books in Oregon u can strap a loaded gun to ur hip and walk down the street with it as long as it is not concealed same thing in the car if it is not concealed........but u can bet if u tired it there would be a lot of cops stopping u lol.........anyways just a little known fact about oregon lol

Just yesterday morning, a guy got shot 5 times right outside my apartment. I was at work, but my wife was pretty terrified. It happened at about 2AM.

I'd like to teach my wife how to handle a gun, but she won't have it. It's scary, really. The only real protection against a gun is another gun.

we have guns in our home but they are all locked up except one we are hunters.....not for sport but for the meat..... why one left out? it takes about two hours for police to reach our home in the country if we have any problems........would we use it if our life was in danger the answer is yes.........would we use it for any other reason NO

I agree. On a serious note, I've always been scared to get a gun. First of all because I have small children in the house and would be terrified that they'd get their hands on it somehow.

I was also married to a very abusive man for 10 years so I was always scared he'd end up shooting me with it and even now, I don't think I'd actually be able to pull the trigger on another person anyway (unless they were actively trying to harm one of my kids!) but I'm sure I'd hesitate long enough for them to take it away from me and kill me with it.....
