Maybe illegals could be hired to dredge it. Would be kind of ironic, wouldn't it?

Man, MAYBE? MAYBE? undocumented immigrants WILL be hired to dredge it...that unless they use the army guys to do it. Even if they use the army, the minority of this country will be doing it: blacks, hispanics, filipinos, etc...

Haven't you heard the news stories about all the undocumented people that have worked, and are currently working in army bases all over the country? Let's keep in mind that we are trying to secure the border to stop terrorists from harming the US right? well, I guess these undocumented immigrants that we soo much fear are sooo dumb that they have complete access to an army base and haven't tried anything against this country. Man, they are dumb.

it should be noted that people in the army and illegal aliens working on a base are two separate groups. the military does not check green cards at the gate, the contractor is required to verify the identity and legal standing of it's workers.

eta: "minority of this country will be doing it" - what a crock of #######. those ethnicities you listed do not make up a majority of the armed forces. should the armed forces be tasked with such a mission, guess what - white people will be there too.

1) I never said otherwise, that's the reason why they are working inside the military bases, bc they don't check their status, WHAT I'm trying to point out is the ridiculous idea that by securing the southern border of the US, it will stop "terrorists" from harming and infiltrating the US. Ridiculous enough because terrorists have crossed through canada NOT Mexico. Build a damn wall in the border w/Canada too. How is this different? Same policy, same idea, implement it in both borders, that's why I think this policy is based on pure racism.

2) Yeah, since I'm ok on accepting when I make mistakes, I exaggerated. I give you that, I went bananas.

i don't see it that way. canada is, imo, more attractive than the usa for many, so what sense would it make to go from canada to the states if one is illegal?

canada does have a vested interest in catching terrorist too at poe, so that dog of yours don't hunt.

Now there is an interesting idea... implantable (and removable) microchips on convicts and parolees...

Legal immigrants IMO should not be handled as potential criminals... nor should citizens be subject to it.

The idea would be punitive. Doing so would presume guilt and would go against our presumptive system of innocence until legally proven guilty. Even illegals are guaranteed due process for criminal offenses.

Illegals are not given due process for immigration violations.

Implanting a microchip is not punitive, we are all force into vaccinations so why not a chip implanted just to enter the US regardless of the reason? If your time is up an alarm goes off and they send someone to pick you up. Does the fear of being found only scare someone who is criminal? If a law abiding person doesn't do anything wrong why would they care if the government could track their location?
