I see nothing wrong or weird about eyelash tinting! Personally I don't really need it done and most of my friends have similarly dark hair/eyelashes, but I can certainly see how it'd be useful for some people.

I wish my wife married me for my money.

It would mean I had a lot!

Well, they say, all you need is a dollar and a dream.

Maybe there is still hope for us?

Al Hayat,

Not really (by NYC standards), but whenever I mention the high cost of living in NYC

or spending thousands of dollars on groceries or restaurants, I get treated like some kind

of a freak or alien from another planet.

I don't think you have to be rich to spend lots of money on certain items. We also all have our priorities. Sometimes the items really do pay for themselves in that you won't have to replace them for years.

I'd like to be able to spend more on clothes, actually, because sometimes the cheaper ones lose their shape terribly quickly and I also wear holes in them. It's great to find something in the sales or at an outlet but if you're an average/popular size then clothes tend to go very quickly and I myself rarely ever find anything in the sales.

I guess if I were to follow fashion then I'd probably not spend so much on, say, shoes or a bag. After all, then you're only wearing them or using them for a season or year. I will spend quite a lot of money on a pair of work shoes but hopefully I'll then wear those nearly every day for four years or so.

On the other hand I've found many areas I can skimp on. When I first cut my hair no one could tell I hadn't had it done at a salon. Since it's straight and relatively easy to cut I've not bothered to pay for a haircut in two years, now.

I have a friend from Iceland who is very pale and very blind, borderline albino. She gets her lashes tinted as well as her eyebrows, otherwise she'd look like a ghost.

Diana

i guess that makes sense...white eyelashes do look sort of odd

yea, people think its rocket science, but it really isn't...i can understand if you want something fancy, or if your hair is curly/wavy that its a bit harder, but i have cut my own hair for years and nobody can tell the difference (my hair is straight too)

Don't worry, Mawilson, i will still be nice to you even if you are rich.

You are right though, it is ridiculously expensive in NYC. i have not lived in NYC for two years now, and i'm just getting back and looking for a place to live. In 2 years, the cost of rentals in the boroughs and North Jersey have nearly doubled. It is a sad, sad time when you see a Basement Studio in East New York, listed on Craig's List for $900.

i better sell that screenplay and fast!!!

I even manage to feather and layer it! :D

...although the quality of the layering depends upon how bored I am by the end. :P

Thanks AlHayat, and good luck finding a reasonably priced apartment.

It's still possible to find a rent-controlled or rent-stabilized place in NYC if you're willing to shell out $2-3k to a broker.

yepp, this is what we are dealing with nowadays...cant catch a break anywhere anymore...soon brooklyn will be nothing but condos :(

even in the typically 'least desirable' neighborhoods, you basically cant find anything for below $900...and like you said, that is for a studio in the basement
