DS-230 Form? Necessary for K-1????

7 posts in this topic

On the guides section here it is in the downloadable forms for the K-1, but it says it's the "Application for Immigrant and Alien Registration". Does this apply to us going through the K-1 process? I thought they were entering as "non-immigrants"???????? I know the DS-156's do, but does this particular one???

Thanks for your help! :)

First of all Congrads!

I believe you are talking about the Packet 3 forms. I sent that to the embassy too but they later returned it back to me. I dont think they will be needed that. Yes the K1 is the non immigrant visa. So this form will be used in the US when U will apply for the AOS.

Good Luck

We are going through the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and we were sent packet 3 that DID contain form DS-230 Part I. They told us that DS-230 Part II will be completed by the applicant during the interview. I'm sure many consulates/embassies are different. You might check your specific consulate/embassy website to see if they have a "required documents" section.

Either way, the DS-230 was painless and more biographical than anything else.

Best of luck to you both!

Whilst K visas are classed as non immigrant visa they are in many ways processed as for an immigrant visa.

Great! Thanks to you all for your replies! I will check out the Consulate's website to see if they do have a required forms section. Either way, you are all right, it's not biggie, just fill it out like every other one we've had to fill out!

Thanks again, thanks for the congrats and best of luck to you all! :)

Like Aussiewench said non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant probably because the assumption is that you will marry and reside in the us permanantly

Good Luck
