hello RN's....

just wanna ask what's the starting pay now for RN's in you all's respective state???? and how did it go when u first did ur job hunting in the US??? any pointers for a starter will be greatly appreciated...

starting pay in the NYC area is $80.000 or an RN, more or less depending on experience, hospital etc.

Unless you live in NYC or are planning to move there, $80K isn't realistic for the rest of the country. If you look at the first link, you'll notice the cost-of-living makes a big difference and you're lucky if you live in Texas according to the survey.

My BIL is a RN in Jacksonville FL, I think he said once he makes around 25$ an hour (i have to ask though I might remember wrong). He finished nursing school about a year ago and he found his current job through his college.

A friend of mine (an immigrant from the Phils.) is earning $16/hr, with an MS degree in US, with 15 years of experience under her belt..

She is so underpaid. I wonder why is that.

Maybe she came here trough an agency? There are agencies who recruit RN's from around the world, but mostly from the Philipines, they pay for licensure, green card application, travel expenses and relocation but in return they take a big chunk out of their paychecks, since the RN's have a contract with the agency for about 2 years after they arrive.

Maybe as Head RN,

My sister is RN she started at 45k, now she is up to 70k

and this is in NJ

Hello! Are you talking 80K/month or annually? I understand for a start in the US it ranges from $18- $25 depending on which state no matter how many years of experience you had from other countries. You got to start from basic trainings on a US setting and pass the NCLEX of course.

My ex was an RN. She worked in nursing homes all her career. The best she ever got up to was $16/hr. In our area a hospital charge nurse on the general floors will make around $25/hr. Keep in mind this is central Illinois so your area may be different.

my aunt has been an RN for a little over a year and started at $23/hr here in Indiana

A good friend of mine works at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She works 3 nights a week, 12 hour shifts and then gets four days off in a row. One week a month she will be off the whole week (as her shifts will tail end each other). She gets paid around $50,000 a year, got a sign on bonus of $7000 and has been qualified for about 2/3 years.
