Hey guys-I'm just curious-as usual.

I sent the DS-230 back with the checklist letter NVC requested and as "Yam Sam" recommended. It was delivered on Tuesday May 2nd and the computer acknowledged receipt of the "check list-letter response" on that date. I called this morning and they said that the DS-230 was received yesterday May 4th and is in their system and it will take about 2-4 weeks to review. Is this true?

How long have YOU waited for them to complete review of the DS-230? I can't imagine it taking more thn 1/2 hour because its only 2 pages!!! Just trying to get some insight from those of u who've already been through the process.

I'm not impatient-just curious :D

NVC recieved my DS-230 on 24 March and the NVC completed my case on 4 April. They have been relatively fast of late in reviewing so hopefully you should get case complete within a week or so. I have noted the odd member getting case complete in 3 days of having received the last of the submissions.

Thank u for responding aussiewench, That sounds lovely " a week or so".

What odd numbers are u referring to? The case #? The date NVC receives the documents? Please clarify.

Thanks for your response though.:-)

Any and all information given on the DS-230 is reviewed........Will that information or any information found during a security check effect the outcome........that would depend on the outcome.

Checks done at NVC level

At National Visa Center (State Department) stage, a separate independent NCIC database check is done by in-house FBI staff in connection with information supplied in the DS-230. Based on results, NVC has the option to request full fingerprints to be taken at post. NVC checks can usually be completed in 24 hours. In some limited cases involving high-risk visa applicants meeting certain specific criteria, NVC also does Security Advisory Opinions (SOAs) before sending the file to Consular Post.

ok everyone, HOLD UP!

The computer voice told me on Wednesday May 24 that the Immigrant visa fee bill has been received and will send instructions in a few weeks

i spoke to a human who had told me that the iv fee bill was receveid on 5/22.

anywho, using James; shortcuts i mailed out an "already prepared" ds 230.

in the usps envelope, there was:

the barcoded cover sheet,

the ds 230 (2 pages of it)

my explanation to answering yes on ques. 25- if my spouse has been to the US before

and a copy of the biographic page with his pic and place of birth on it .

DOUBTS:

1. was i ok to send it? ( i think so yes)

2. was this all i needed

3. after they get it, usual time to review seems about 2 weeks as per the earlier replies in this post

*** but since my husband was here before, will it take longer??

--> how he got here:

he came on a k-1 visa in march 2000

got married to his exwife on april 30, 2000

attended their first interview in dec 2000 where i-94 was taken, and passport left unstamped. said gc will come in mail.

they separated in dec 2000

final divorce decree dated april 15, 2002.

within 90 days, he filed a waiver, i-751. granted on june 8, 2002.

got his EAD before he got the final divorce decree in july 2001.

his i-751 was extended again for another 1 year on june 3, 2003, on official uscis paper.

we met in nov 2002.

got married in aug 2003.

have a baby boy in sept 2004.

all this while kept making info pass appts, ASKING WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE CASE.

they kept saying its pending. he got many stamps in his passport which read "procesed for i-551. temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence; valid until________, employment authorized. "

hes traved to india 2x on these " stamps" once by himself and once we as a family.

both times he was inspected on return, so says the stamp they put at miami arpt.

finally they give him a 2nd interview- said his i-485 was denied on sept 16, 2002.

BUT HE GOT HIS WAIVER IN JUNE 2002, JUNE 2003, AND THOSE STAMPS....

:crying::crying: HE LEFT TO INDIA THE DAY AFTER THE INTERVIEW :crying::crying:

in the 12 hours btwn intrview and the flight back, lawyer said stay and file a i-485 again..

he said well.. i have NO status as of right now-- how willi know they wont deport me or start proceedings?? or put me in detention.?

at the interview, the officer just said to go home and file an appeal.

TECHNICALLY HE HAS NOT OVERSTAYED HIS VISA- HE LEFT THE DAY AFTER THEY CROSSED OUT THOSE STAMPS.

HE WAS AFRAID SOME SHERRIF WAS GOING TO COME KNOCK ON OUR DOOR AND TAKE HIM AWAY.

and so said, left me and the little one alone and flew back....

that was nov 19, 2005.

today is may 25, 2006.

in the meanwhile,

1. we appealed the decision made at the interview. (he sent it from india, they accepted it, and said wait a year)

2. applied for i-130,

3. applied for k-3.

the rest is in the time line....

I GUESS i just needed to vent..

if this doesnt get resolved soon, i might as well go to india too..dont u think? the baby hasnt seen his dad in over 6 months. i hope he remembers what he looks like hes only 20 months old

wow pharmacist...you guys have been on a journey.....at least things are moving along for you now.

When you sent in the self generated DS-230, did you wait until you heard if it was generated by NVC?

It can take longer then 2 weeks yes. Depending on what information is on the DS-230 they can do whats called an advisory opinion etc. The results of these though usually go to consulate posts and don't hold the petition up for too long in many cases from what I have noted. Can be 6 weeks or more. NVC also do security checks just as they did at the service center. Consulate will however wait on the clearances before issuing a visa. You can read more about this in the link in my signature.

If you sent in all that was required (relevent to country of beneficiary/applicant) then what you have sent is correct. Did you check to see that you were only required to send DS-230 part I?

Once NVC has received the last of the submissions, the next thing you will hear on the automated system is that your case is complete. That is unless your case is in review. Wishing you all the best and I hope you hear something soon.
