I tried a few different times and they are holding tight. They put me on hold and ask a supervisor but they just refuse to give it out. They are trained to say that it is not available and that the system is not up yet even when I don't mention a system. We have to devise a strategy now that they are catching up to us!! :crying: I'm leaving next Tuesday morning for a month and thus this will hold my case up for a month! How sad that they don't care.

I hope that sometime over the next month that I get some reprieve and that we can pay the bill online and send the DS 230 from abroad. I sent an email to NVC just in case.

Just trying to muster the energy (and the money) to do this again.

I am just wondering if NVC uses same IIN for users or is there pattern for these numbers.

Let's say that NVC uses IIN for logging purpose in Online System (Which is hosted by Dept of Treasury) then may be we can use different person's IIN to log in and since our payment is tied to NVC case number then there might be a possibility to pay bill (wild guess only. don't try this).

Those of who got IIN from NVC can you atleast post may be last 6 digits?

Thank you all for your help.

Very good idea! Yes if people are willing to let us know part of their IIN number, then maybe we can figure out the code. I know the code was cracked as to how the NVC case number is assigned. If we can figure out the IIn number we can at least see if it lets us sign in online.

Any takers?

In case anyone's curious, here's how the NVC assigns case numbers:

MTL2008501001 =

MTL = 3 letter code for the consulate which will receive your case, i.e. Montreal Consulate in this case

2008 = The year the NVC assigned your case a case number

501 = The day (out of 365 or 366 on leap years) PLUS 500 your case was assigned, i.e. January 1st in this case, 1+500 = 501

001 = A sequential number of case numbers assigned that day for that consulate.

I wonder if they're using similar logic for the IIN's. Alright I'll start. My IIN starts with 191xxxxx

AOS in this case stands for Affidavit Of Support NOT Adjustment Of Status! You should have sent in the I-864 NOT an I-485, unless you're adjusting status (in which case it goes to USCIS not the NVC)!

Mine start with 193....to me it seems like probably its a generated number of how many invoices were printed from probably the beginning of whenever...

I just called and got my number also. She gave me no problems whatsoever....it starts with 192.

You should try later in the evening. I think the evening staff may not know about not giving it out.

You were absolutely right!!! I said a few prayers and then called this evening and had no problems. Either they are happy night people or the rules have changed today. In either case, I'm thrilled that I won't miss a month of time while I am away. I feel so much more relaxed!!! :dancing:

Just trying to muster the energy (and the money) to do this again.
