I actually went the Lawyer route too...this is of course before I found this site. I know now that it was not necessary to actually use a Lawyer. We didn't have any type of problems that would hinder our k-1 processing. If I would have known better I would have saved my 1800! (not including application fees) Its a bummer I know money down the drain..but I have to say that it does offer atleast some peace of mind. My lawyers are great and really were there for whatever question I had. Through them I have also been able to offer answers to other people on this site.

I really hope you don't end up like my situation (the one that tallcoolone mentioned, with the We The People people), where they don't even bother about what you really need to send and just send 1/5 of the bloody application.

Even paid 400 for her. Big mistake on our part.

Anyway, welcome to VJ, and good luck on your petition! It's going to be a long, arduous wait, so sit back, and try to relax. :)

I am sorry to hear about that, hopefully all will go well for all of us who hired lawyers, and we will just have to accept the fact that we will not get back what we spent on that, so we'll just have to stay positive.

On our part I think the 500$ is worth to pay the lawyer (or too soon to say that, we'll keep you posted)...

Good luck to all of us and God Bless!

I hired an immigration attourney for our K1 - cost us $1,750 - it did take a lot of the stress out, but realised I could have done it all without the waste of cash................we did the AOS ourselves which I am glad we did.

I guess if you want the support and assistance, then it is the right thing for you :)

Good luck !!

i had a lawyer tell me one time that USCIS hold lawyers to a higher standard that if you make simple mistakes when you file by yourself that they give you leeway but lawyers they don't and they give RFEs
